Christian Meditation written by Hans Urs Von Balthasar and has been published by Ignatius Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-10-12 with Religion categories.

While von Balthasar's classic Prayer is unparalleled in its development of the Trinitarian, Christological, Mariological and ecclesiological dimensions of prayer, Christian Meditation is a short, readable and eminently practical guide to that form of prayer which God's revelation in Jesus Christ has made indispensable: meditation on the word of God revealing the inner depths of God to man and--since it comes from God made man--the inner depths of man to himself. In a treatment that is both fresh and profound, Balthasar describes the central elements of all Christian meditation, provides a guide for making the meditation and then points the way to the union that prayer achieves in the footsteps of Mary, within the Church and in and for the world. "Consequently, Christian meditation is entirely trinitarian and at the same time entirely human. In order to find God, no one need reject being human personally or socially, but in order to find God all must see the world and themselves in the Holy Spirit as they are in God's sight." - Hans Urs von Balthasar

Meditation Prayer God In All written by John Macort and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-02-13 with categories.

The contents of this book were taken from a larger, previous publication by John Macort entitled "A Seeker's Theology," "Christianity Reinterpreted as Mysticism." Having been raised an Episcopalian with strong Quaker influences from family and a Quaker school and college, the author served as an Episcopal priest for four decades. He also taught religion, theology, and philosophy at a Roman Catholic university and other colleges. After his retirement, he returned to his Liberal Quaker roots. He renounced Trinitarian doctrines, creeds and beliefs. Now a panentheist, he bases is faith on mystical experiences. He calls himself a rebellious Episcopalian, a unitarian, universalist, Liberal Quaker, seeker. In other words, a Christian heretic. As a non-theist, he contends that God is not a divine person or supreme being off in the heavens. Panentheism expresses God as being in every aspect of existence. Quakers believe that there is that of God in every person. The author experiences God as the impersonal energy that makes every thing that exists what it is. God is the source of all energy and love. How then, does one pray to impersonal, divine Spirit or Energy? Through mystical meditation, everyone can receive inspiration and direct revelations from God. When we transmit or send our divine energy from within ourselves directly to other persons, that is prayer.

A unique and imaginative way to pray! Welcome to a different way of praying. Usually when we pray we try to shut out the outside world and focus on the interior, the spiritual, in order to be able to be with God. This book invites us instead to be with God through the very tangible, specific objects of our everyday life. We're invited to take another look, as well as another listen, taste, touch, and smell, at what is right before us and to see God there. A rock, a shoe, a pen--all offer an opportunity for entering into prayer and experiencing God's presence. Author Kathleen Finley leads us through a variety of five-part prayer exercises to help use objects in nature as well as personal and everyday objects as touchstones for prayer. Each exercise includes five parts: an opening prayer, a guided meditation on a specific object, a number of related scripture passages, a reflection on the significance of the object in our lives, and a closing section on how to put our prayer into action. Savoring God offers a unique and imaginative way to pray, allowing us to truly taste and see God's presence all around us.

Prayer written by Timothy Keller and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-06 with Religion categories.

'"Can't anyone teach me how to pray?" Millions of people today are asking the same question. There is a sense of the necessity of prayer - we have to pray. But how?' Prayer is central to Christian faith; indeed, as Timothy Keller notes in his introduction, it is the main way we experience deep change. Yet so many people struggle with prayer - a struggle that the author himself has shared. This wise and inspiring book is the fruit of those struggles, offering a real and glorious vision of what it can mean to seek God in prayer. Keller begins by giving a theological underpinning of what prayer actually is - both conversation and encounter with a personal God - before describing how we can learn to pray, and then deepen that prayer. Finally he gives detailed, practical suggestions on how to make prayer a part of the reality of daily life.

“Pray without ceasing” is more easily said than done. Prayer and meditation are a foundational aspect of a Christian walk. As we work to make our lives a prayer, the depth of our talks with God go further than simple requests to spiritual introspection and reflection, looking both inward and outward for answers that help us grow. Today’s Prayer and Meditation features 365 prayers that dig deep into the pressing questions in one’s spiritual walk. “I have known Phil for many years and can witness to the fact that his daily prayers are exactly the way he lives his life. The messages of each prayer to God takes us to higher levels of thought and spiritual understanding. Even more important, the prayers focus our thoughts to God and His mission and purpose for us.” “As a professor, he showed love and concern to all of his students. He selflessly helped beyond their studies and mentored and coached many with addictions, and severe personal issues. As my friend, he has been supportive, and more important, always in prayer for me, my family, and for those in the world around us. I highly recommend joining with what he calls, ‘the Prayer Warriors’ and praying daily.” – Mark Conroy, pastor, Coastal Church, Daytona Beach, Florida
