The biblical figure Melchizedek appears just twice in the Hebrew Bible, and once more in the Christian New Testament. Cited as both the king of Shalem-understood by most scholars to be Jerusalem-and as an eternal priest without ancestry, Melchizedek's appearances become textual justification for tithing to the Levitical priests in Jerusalem and for the priesthood of Jesus Christ himself. But what if the text was manipulated? Robert R. Cargill explores the Hebrew and Greek texts concerning Melchizedek's encounter with Abraham in Genesis as a basis to unravel the biblical mystery of this character's origins. The textual evidence that Cargill presents shows that Melchizedek was originally known as the king of Sodom and that the later traditions about Sodom forced biblical scribes to invent a new location, Shalem, for Melchizedek's priesthood and reign. Cargill also identifies minor, strategic changes to the Hebrew Bible and the Samaritan Pentateuch that demonstrate an evolving, polemical, sectarian discourse between Jews and Samaritans competing for the superiority of their respective temples and holy mountains. The resulting literary evidence was used as the ideological motivation for identifying Shalem with Jerusalem in the Second Temple Jewish tradition. A brief study with far-reaching implications, Melchizedek, King of Sodom reopens discussion of not only this unusual character, but also the origins of both the priesthood of Christ and the role of early Israelite priest-kings.

The Book of the Covenant and the Book of the Law are two different books. The first was the Answer to the Promise Covenant made in Genesis 15. The other was imposed because Israel broke the Covenant. It was meant to be temporary and was prescriptive law until Yahshua. After his death and resurrection Yahshua was made the High Priest of h Father's Royal Priesthood, the Melchizedek Priesthood. A change in Priests equals a change in Law. Yahshua restored the original Melchizedek Priesthood, its Covenant, its Law and its issues. This is the Royal Priesthood that we are all being called into. Entrance into this New Covenant is 'circumcision of the heart' there is no entry into it without it. These priests will be keeping the Melchizedek Mo'edim (the Appointments or Feasts. We are to have the mind of the Messiah, not a Levitical or Rabbinic mindset. (The PDF that Torah to the Tribes is giving away is NOT this book).

In writing the Epistle to the Hebrews, the Apostle reckons Melchizedek to be the Immortal Priest of God in heaven, a Divine spirit being, one who has lived with God from the beginnings of time till date and who will remain His priest forever, and not Canaanite king-priest as many presume. He declares him to be without origin, having neither beginning to his days or end to his life, and thus still alive to this day as you read this. Indeed by scripture, he was not created and is the head of the order of "Melchizedek," his Divine order and heavenly priesthood to which God enjoins Jesus saying to him before all in heaven, "you are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek." The Person of Melchizedek principally provides the reader with insight regarding the otherwise shrouded identity of Melchizedek the priest. Amid all the speculations in the world today regarding Melchizedek, this is a shining light, giving accurate revelation and truth of God's very own priest. Daniel Oyegun is an Entrepreneur and a lay-minister of God's word. He is called, an Apostle of God with the gift of stirring up the Nations in the things that pertain to God; he is married and lives in Nigeria with his wife and child.

This story gives an insight into how God is to bring about the fullness of Jesus as High Priest after the order of Melchizedek. It gives insights into the evidences found in the scriptures of the life of Abraham. It details how God called Abraham to service, his relationship with the mystical character of Melchizedek and why God chose him to become the father of the saviour Jesus. It is an exercise in taking the Bible scriptures as literal truth, gleaning subtleties from the original Hebrew texts through the Strong's concordance and building a picture of life in those times. It shows things that are not immediately evident in today's perspective of the scriptures. It shows the importance of starting at the beginning of the story about God and his plan for man. The book presents explanations on why Melchizedek was so revered and why Abraham decided to take a tithe of the plunder of the battle that saved Lot and give it to Melchizedek. Through this book we study some of the personalities and characters of the book of Genesis and put them into perspective by showing a realistic time line for some of the period covered by the Book of Genesis. For those who have been a Christian for many years, reading this book could be the catalyst to your future success as a Christian. It could change your life and give it meaning and as a child of God giving it direction and a purpose.

Melchizedek is a mysterious figure to many people. Adopting discourse analysis and text-linguistic approaches, Chan attempts to tackle the Melchizedek texts in Genesis 14, Psalm 110, and Hebrews 5-7. This seminal study illustrates how the mysterious figure is understood and interpreted by later biblical writers, "... Using the “blessing” motif as a framework, Chan also argues that Numbers 22-24, 2 Samuel 7 and the Psalter: Books I-V (especially Psalms 1-2) provide a reading paradigm of interpreting Psalm 110. In addition, the structure of Hebrews provides a clue to how the author interprets the Old Testament texts.

One of the most relevant spiritual issues of this hour concerns the contrast between Grace vs. Law, Faith vs. Works and Good vs. Evil. Up until now, Christians have tried to balance the one with the other, and in doing so, unknowingly diluted the revelation of the Gospel at its core. Adding to our struggle to touch humanity with the message of Christ, it seems that the unbeliever is wise to the conflict, thus having no desire to embrace the frustration such religiosity brings to spirituality. For us, the Church at large, to resolve such contrasts and settle the conflict of religiosity and spirituality, we must rethink and embrace the high-priestly ministry found in Christ Jesus, known as the Order of Melchizedek. When we think of being kings and priests as the scripture states, many times we see the Aaronic high-priest going into the Holies of Holies sacrificing a lamb for the sins of the people. But in the New Testament, quoting King David from Psalms, we read that Jesus is a high priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek. So why do we insert Christ into the practice of the Aaronic or Levitical priesthood? Who is Melchizedek? How is this Melchizedekian order different from the Aaronic order? Surely Christ (the Messiah) is not a high-priest that has a dagger in His hand slaying a lamb... The scripture adds that there's much to say about this Melchizedek, but it's difficult to explain. Why? Could it be that in Melchizedek, the Mosaic Law, its commandments and its temple aren't applicable in the way we have traditionally applied them? If so, what does holy living look like? Within the pages of "Melchizedek, Our Gracious King-Priesthood in Christ," we will discover the enigmas regarding this king-priesthood, which is founded in the very origins of creation and the Garden of Eden. Thus, if Adam partaking of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil brought the fall and death to humanity, why do we Christians believe that the preaching of good and evil will bring Life? This study-book can change how we perceive everything in both the physical and spiritual world as we know it, and open up the realty of the priesthood we have in Christ because we, too, are of the order of Melchizedek!
