Jewish identity, memory, and place deftly revealed through the lens of Jewish women's graphic narratives. An exploration of the work of Jewish women graphic novelists and the intricate Jewish identity is complicated by gender, memory, generation, and place—that is, the emotional, geographical, and psychological spaces that women inhabit. Victoria Aarons argues that Jewish women graphic novelists are preoccupied with embodied memory: the way the body materializes memory. This monograph investigates how memory manifests in the drawn shape of the body as an expression of the weight of personal and collective histories. Aarons explores Jewish identity, diaspora, mourning, memory, and witness in the works of Sarah Lightman, Liana Finck, Anya Ulinich, Leela Corman, and more. Memory Spaces begins by framing this research within contemporary discourse and reflects upon the choice to explore Jewish women graphic novelists specifically. In the chapters that follow, Aarons relates the nuanced issues of memory, transmission of trauma, Jewish cultural identity, and the gendered self to a series of meaningful and noteworthy graphic novels. Aarons’s insight, close readings, and integration of contemporary scholarship are conveyed clearly and concisely, creating a work that both captivates readers and contributes to scholarly discourse in Jewish studies, women’s literature, memory studies, and identity.

Post Memory Spaces Forgotten Histories And Urban Change written by Pasquale De Marco and has been published by Pasquale De Marco this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-04-18 with Social Science categories.
In the realm of urban landscapes, memory plays a profound role in shaping our understanding of place, identity, and history. This book delves into the captivating world of post-memory spaces, urban environments that carry the weight of past events and experiences, often without the presence of direct witnesses. These spaces can be sites of trauma, struggle, or triumph, holding the potential to evoke powerful emotions and memories, even among those who have no personal connection to the events that transpired there. Through a series of thought-provoking chapters, this book explores the intricate relationship between memory and the built environment, investigating how memory shapes the physical form of cities and how, in turn, the urban landscape influences our collective and individual memories. It examines the complex interplay between memory and forgetting, shedding light on the ways in which certain memories are preserved and others are erased or suppressed. The book also delves into the role of memory in processes of urban renewal, gentrification, and sustainable development, exploring the challenges and opportunities that arise when cities attempt to balance the preservation of historical and cultural heritage with the demands of progress and growth. It examines the impact of digital technologies on urban memory, considering both the potential for digital archives to preserve and disseminate memories and the risks associated with the manipulation and distortion of digital records. Ultimately, this book seeks to illuminate the profound significance of memory in urban life, highlighting the ways in which memory shapes our perceptions of the city and our place within it. It is an invitation to discover the hidden layers of meaning that lie beneath the surface of our cities and to engage with the stories that are waiting to be told. With its interdisciplinary approach and thought-provoking insights, this book will appeal to a wide range of readers, including scholars, urban planners, architects, historians, sociologists, and anyone interested in the complex relationship between memory, place, and identity. It is an essential resource for anyone seeking to understand the cultural and historical significance of urban environments. If you like this book, write a review on google books!

Space Time And Memory In The Hippocampal Formation written by Dori Derdikman and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-07-08 with Medical categories.
The discovery of new cell types, such as grid and time cells, in the hippocampus has been accompanied by major anatomical and theoretical insights in the recent years. This book provides comprehensive, up-to-date information about the hippocampal formation and especially the neural basis of episodic memory, spatial location (the formation of the cognitive map) and temporal representation. The first part of the book describes the information flow from pre-hippocampal areas into the hippocampus, the second part discusses the different types of hippocampal processing and finally, the third part depicts the influence that the hippocampal processing has on other brain structures that are perhaps more closely tied to explicit cognitive or behavioral output. This book is intended for neuroscientists, especially for those who are involved in research on the hippocampus, as well as for behavioral scientists and neurologists.

The conference intersectionally locates memory and space that reconstruct city chronotopes to explore how identities are reconfigured in metropolitan Indian cities. In taking recourse in locating turning points that could be historical, political or cultural in the life of ‘Metropolitan Indian Cities’ the perspective that is brought together with personal and collective stories that are recorded in Art /Literature /Curated Projects /Museums is that these moments reshape human values/ ethos in Cities. The assumption made is that at specific moments in time / turning points, with the pandemic for instance the spirit of the city changes. It highlights how human beings in cities account for such changes (the IIHS runs a postcard project on human lives during the plague and corona) being an example. It uses focal moments in the City as the lens to discuss Art, Literature and City Design.

Learning Through Collective Memory Work written by Goya Wilson Vásquez and has been published by Policy Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-01-30 with Business & Economics categories.
This book traces the process of producing testimonio with the children of the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement (MRTA), an insurgent group during Peru’s internal war (1980–2000). It examines how the group navigates post-war struggles over memory while dealing with the ‘children of terrorists’ stigma. Drawing from a cycles of inquiry approach, the book theorizes three movements for memory work: a realist presentation of testimonial narratives, a ‘politics of memory’ engaging with the conditions of production and a ‘poetics of memory’ that troubles memory, voice and representation for qualitative inquiry in post-war contexts. Challenging the notion of war-torn countries as pure devastation, the author invites readers to see them as sites of knowledge and creativity, with much to offer for education, peace studies and social justice research.

This book provides a broad coverage of fundamental and advanced con cepts of data structures and algorithms. The material presented includes a treatment of elementary data structures such as arrays, lists, stacks, and trees, as well as newer structures that have emerged to support the process ing of multidimensional or spatial data files. These newer structures and algorithms have received increasing attention in recent years in conjunc tion with the rapid growth in computer-aided design, computer graphics, and related fields in which multidimensional data structures are of great interest. Our main objective is to mesh the underlying concepts with application examples that are of practical use and are timely in their implementations. To this end, we have used mainly the Abstract Data Structure (or Abstract Data Type (ADT)) approach to define structures for data and operations. Object-oriented programming (OOP) methodologies are employed to im plement these ADT concepts. In OOP, data and operations for an ADT are combined into a single entity (object). ADTs are used to specifiy the objects-arrays, stacks, queues, trees, and graphs. OOP allows the pro grammer to more closely mimic the real-world applications. This OOP is more structured and modular than previous attempts. OOP has become de facto state-of-the-art in the 1990s.
