Pengarusutamaan moderasi beragama terhadap pilkada serentak 2020 sangat dibutuhkan. If the Qur'an is the first written formulation of Islam in general, Malik's Muwatta' is arguably the first written formulation of the Islam-in-practice that becomes Islamic law. This book considers the methods used by Malik in the Muwatta' to derive the judgements of the law from the Qur'an and is thus concerned on one level with the finer details of Qur'anic interpretation. However, since any discussion of the Qur'an in this context must also include considerations of the other main source of Islamic law, namely the sunna, or normative practice, of the Prophet, this latter concept, especially its relationship to the terms of hadith and amal (traditions and living tradition), also receives considerable attention, and in many respects, this book is more about the history and development of Islamic law than it is about the science of Qur'anic interpretation. This is the first book to question the hitherto accepted frameworks of both the classical Muslim view and the current revisionist western view on the development of Islamic law. It is also the first study in a European language to deal specifically with the early development of the Madinan, later Malik, school of jurisprudence, as it is also the first to demonstrate in detail the various methods used, both linguistic and otherwise, in interpreting the legal verses of the Qur'an. Asal hukum adalah membiarkan orang-orang kafir (hidup) dan mengawasi mereka, karena sesungguhnya Allah tidaklah menghendaki untuk membinasakan makhluk. Allah juga tidak menciptakan mereka agar dibunuh. Sesungguhnya diperbolehkannya membunuh mereka adalah karena adanya sebab lain yang membahayakan dan mengancam yang ada pada diri mereka. Meskipun demikian, semua itu tidak bisa dijadikan alasan sebagai balasan dan hukuman atas kekufuran mereka karena sesungguhnya dunia ini bukanlah tempat pembalasan, tetapi pembalasan adanya di alam akhirat. (Ibn Shalah, dalam al-Fatâwa, 121) Kewajiban jihad merupakan kewajiban yang bersifat perantara, bukan kewajiban yang menjadi sebuah tujuan. Sebab tujuan utama dari perang adalah turunnya petunjuk dari Allah dan tujuan lain, seperti mati dalam keadaan syahid. Adapun memerangi orang-orang kafir, maka hal itu bukanlah maksud dan tujuan. Jika saja hidayah itu dapat didatangkan dengan mengetengahkan dalil-dalil dan hujjah yang kuat, dengan tanpa melalui jihad , maka sesungguhnya hal tersebut jauh lebih baik dan lebih utama daripada jihad. (al-Khatib as-Syarbini, Mughnî al-Muhtâj Syarh al-Minhâj, 6/44) Saat Rasulullah sampai di Madinah, beliau berdamai dengan orangorang Yahudi dan membiarkan mereka pada agamanya. Tapi ketika mereka melanggar perjanjian dan mulai mngobarkan peperangan, Rasulullah pun memerangi mereka. Begitu halnya dengan apa yang terjadi pada kaum Quraisy selama 10 tahun. Rasulullah tidak pernah memulai memerangi mereka sampai mereka sendiri yang mulai mengobarkan peperangan dan melanggar perjanjian yang dibuatnya. Saat seperti inilah Rasulullah memerangi mereka atas peperangan yang mereka lakukan terhadap Rasulullah. (Ibnu Qayyim, Hidayatil Hayari, 1/12)

Buku ini menunjukkan bahwa metode dakwah bi al-qalam memiliki peranan yang sama penting dengan metode dakwah lainnya, bahkan lebih. Dakwah bi al-qalam bukan hanya sebagai sarana penyampaian pesan dakwah kepada audiens dengan cara yang lebih personal, ia juga seringkali menjadi rujukan dan kajian bagi pegiat dakwah bi al-lisan. Kesimpulan besar penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa kitab Misbāḥ al-Ẓālām karya Syaikh Muhammad Muhajirin Amsar al-Dary masuk dalam kategori dakwah bi al-qalam sekalipun di dalamnya sama sekali tidak membahas perkara-perkara dakwah. Namun, secara isi dan kandungan, bahasan-bahasan yang terdapat dalam kitab tersebut telah mampu melakukan tugasnya untuk mengubah perspektif masyarakat awam tentang Islam dengan menawarkan pandangan-pandangan beragam dari berbagai sudut pandang mazhab untuk memahami bahwa Islam adalah agama yang universal dan bukan hanya milik golongan tertentu. Penelitian ini mengggunakan pendekatan strukturalisme dengan teori strukturalisme Ferdinand de Saussure. Pendekatan strukturalisme yang digunakan dalam tulisan ini ditujukan untuk melihat struktur tulisan dan relasinya dengan kondisi sosial masyarakat yang mengitarinya, sebab tulisan merupakan produk keadaan sosialnya. Teori lain yang juga penulis gunakan untuk memproses data dalam penelitian ini adalah teori authorship Sean Burke. Teori ini digunakan untuk melihat kecenderungan kepentingan pengarang beserta respon sosial atas karya tersebut. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa studi terhadap kiprah dan pemikiran seseorang dan kaitannya terhadap kehidupan sosial, yang dalam hal ini membahas kitab Misbāḥ al-Ẓālām sebagai moda dakwah bi al-qalam, memberikan pandangan luas dan baru dalam diskursus dan pengembangan metode dakwah Islam di masa mendatang. Sumber utama penelitian ini adalah kitab Misbāḥ al-Ẓālām karya Syaikh Muhammad Muhajirin Amsar al-Dary. Sedangkan sumber sekundernya adalah hasil wawancara dengan para responden yang berkaitan langsung maupun yang tidak dengan Syaikh Muhajirin tetapi pernah membaca dan mempelajari kitab Misbāḥ al-Ẓālām.
