Musikpädagogisches Denken richtet sich auf das Verhältnis zwischen Menschen und Musiken in der Absicht, es zu verändern und zu „verbessern“. Um dies zu können, muss es komplexe Zusammenhänge handhabbar machen: Es entwirft Bilder als integrale Vorstellungen einer kulturellen, sozialen und anthropologischen Gegenwart und setzt sie mit Bildern von einer wünschenswerten, idealen Zukunft in Beziehung. Der Prozess der Genese von und der Arbeit mit derartigen Bildern von Menschen und Musiken wird in diesem Buch insbesondere anhand ausgewählter musikpädagogischer Konzeptionen beschrieben und kritisch reflektiert. Dabei wird gezeigt, auf welche Weise systematische Entwürfe von Zielen, Inhalten und Methoden diese Vorstellungen zu einem engen Geflecht aus wissenschaftlichen Analysen, lebensweltlichen Annahmen und impliziten Normsetzungen verdichten. Die Kenntnis dieser Vorgänge sowie zentraler Motive der Genesis und Verbreitung bildhafter Entwürfe von Menschen und Musiken könnte ein kritisches Verständnis früherer wie gegenwärtiger musikpädagogischer Ansätze orientieren und darüber hinaus neue Perspektiven für zukünftige konzeptionelle Überlegungen entstehen lassen. Thinking in musical education looks towards the relationship between people and musics with the intention of changing and ‘improving’ it. In order to achieve this, it needs to make complex connections manageable: it formulates images as integral concepts of a cultural, social and anthropological present and compares them with images of a desirable and ideal future. This book describes and critically examines the process of generating and working with such images of people and musics on the basis of selected musicological ideas. This demonstrates how systematic formulations of goals, concepts and methods binds these ideas into a close network of scholarly analyses, social assumptions and the implicit setting of norms. The recognition of these processes and of central motives in the generation and dissemination of figurative concepts of people and musics could be geared towards a critical understanding of earlier and present-day approaches to music education and could also give rise to new perspectives for future conceptual reflections.
