Sustainable Heritage Management Design Notions Methods And Techniques written by Mar Loren-Méndez and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-08-16 with Social Science categories.
This book is coordinated by the UNESCO Chair on Modern Urban heritage CREhAR (Creative Research and Education on heritage Assessment and Regeneration), at the School of Architecture, Universidad de Sevilla (USE), institutions and their research groups which constitute a benchmark for research on cultural heritage and sustainability. Developed in the context of a European network of five universities, University of Belgrade, Serbia; University of Seville, Spain; IUAV University of Venice, Italy; University of Cyprus, Cyprus; and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece- this consortium on heritage and sustainability have been collaborating closely, both as authors and editors. This book contributes to opening the way to managing heritage from a sustainable perspective, characterizing it from a holistic approach that includes environmental conservation and bioclimatic design. The central innovation of this contribution rests on combining the processes and methods of the heritage studies with those of the project within the field of Architecture and Urban Planning. The volume is structured into five sections: from the concepts, methods and tools, without forgetting the training in proper documental search and systematization, characterization and values identification, key to define criteria to design strategies and actions. Addressed in three transversal perspectives: education, practice, and research, it gives an integral and complete answer to students, practitioners, and researchers. Regarding its contribution to the literature in the field, this volume offers an international publication in the combined fields of heritage and sustainability, providing both conceptual and specific didactic contents and materials, for what is needed to deal with the complex process involved in heritage management. It looks for quality proceedings to project integrated actions on heritage assets, from a transdisciplinary perspective. This book promotes decision making on expert knowledge and cultural values; the proper use of methods, strategies and tools, and reaches agreements through participation of the different agents involved.

This book presents the results of a novel investigation into building deterioration and defects in Malaysia’s public schools. It sets forth an in-depth theoretical and empirical underpinning the maintenance management of public schools with the view to develop a building deterioration prediction model of building condition based on factors contributing to building defects for school buildings. The approach adopted is mixed method encompassing archived documentation, questionnaire survey and interview of sampled schools in Malaysia. It presents a number of useful tables, graphs and statistical analysis which are useful in understanding the factors contributing to building defects under reference. The prediction model assists the decision making of maintenance management to be more efficient with comprehensive budgeting as well as optimal maintenance and repair work. The book is of relevance to school managers, maintenance management practitioners and academics towards measuring and improving the building condition in schools.
Survey And Assessment Of Traditionally Constructed Brickwork

Survey And Assessment Of Traditionally Constructed Brickwork written by Moses Jenkins and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-03-28 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The principal aim of this book is to improve the practice of surveying traditionally constructed brickwork. It aims to ensure that those who have a cause to survey buildings constructed of traditional (pre-1919) brickwork have a well-developed, clear methodology for undertaking effective, comprehensive surveys. The book will help readers gain the proper level of knowledge, expertise and skill to be able to survey these buildings correctly; to recognise not just defects within the brickwork itself, but also, crucially, the cause of these defects. Experienced author Moses Jenkins presents a clear and concise methodology for the survey of brickwork in existing buildings with coverage including: identifying repair needs understanding the cause of decay within brickwork ascertaining the age and significance of traditionally constructed brickwork, and identifying significant technical and decorative features. Despite the extensive use of traditionally constructed brick worldwide, the knowledge and expertise to properly survey buildings of this type has not, to date, been laid out in a reliable and methodical way. This book addresses this deficiency and provides an invaluable resource to all those who survey and assess buildings constructed of brickwork. This includes building professionals such as architects, surveyors, engineers and those working in building conservation, but also construction managers and students studying built environment disciplines.
