Millennials, Baby Boomers, Gen Z—we like to define people by when they were born, but an acclaimed social researcher explains why we shouldn't. Boomers are narcissists. Millennials are spoiled. Gen Zers are lazy. We assume people born around the same time have basically the same values. It makes for good headlines, but is it true? Bobby Duffy has spent years studying generational distinctions. In The Generation Myth, he argues that our generational identities are not fixed but fluid, reforming throughout our lives. Based on an analysis of what over three million people really think about homeownership, sex, well-being, and more, Duffy offers a new model for understanding how generations form, how they shape societies, and why generational differences aren’t as sharp as we think. The Generation Myth is a vital rejoinder to alarmist worries about generational warfare and social decline. The kids are all right, it turns out. Their parents are too.

1st prize in the DMA-NTPC Management Book Awards, 2018. Currently, we have about 2 billion millennials in the world, aged between 17 and 37 years, who are fast becoming the world’s most important generational cohort in terms of consumer spending growth, sourcing of employees and overall economic prospects. Engaging this cohort for businesses, societies and nations is no more a matter of choice. The 2016 millennial survey by Deloitte on millennials has alarming news for companies the world over. Majority of the millennials or Gen Y workers are likely to change their companies by 2020. While the world over similar trends are visible, India ranks third where the probability of Gen Y workers leaving their current companies is maximum. The survey also points to the fact that this lack of loyalty may be a sign of neglect that millennials might be facing in their organizations. Such poor levels of engagement of millennial workers in India and rest of the world are a huge red flag for all companies. Poor engagement will not only have cost implications but also have huge negative implications on the growth, profitability and sustainability of companies, especially when the going is not particularly easy for most of the industry sectors. This book attempts to create a deep empathy for millennials and is a result of the author’s extensive research spanning almost a decade. The book dives deep into the life of Generation Y and seeks to create an unbiased understanding about this generation, thereby exploding the perceptual myths and stereotypes about them. Based on the research, the book suggests a new strategy to engage with the millennial generation in the workplace and marketplace in particular and the society in general. It provides a consultative guidance to engaging millennials seeking to replace the old models and designs of engagement.

Packing herself up in an RV, Sher embarks on a road trip in hopes of starting a conversation about what it means to grow up in America, post-Great Recession. We are said to be living in the age of entitlement. Scholars and pundits declare that millennials expect special treatment, do whatever they feel like, and think they deserve to have things handed to them. In The Myth of the Age of Entitlement, Cairns peels back the layers of the entitlement myth, exposing its faults and arguing that the majority of millennials are actually disentitled, facing bleak economic prospects and potential ecological disaster. Providing insights from millennials rarely profiled in the mainstream media, Cairns redefines entitlement as a fundamental concept for realizing economic and environmental justice.

This book is designed to explore a way to transform the Millennial mind-set that will reestablish a strong religious foundation in Christ and move the Millennials back into the church. It will explore what a transformational program needs to contain to effectively reform the Millennials' mind-set and how this transformational program can affect the church. Research will be done to define the Millennial problem, the Millennial culture, the Millennial view of the church, and ways to create a dynamic, spiritual, and effective Millennial transformational curriculum program that will bring Millennials back into the church. The Millennials (the largest generation in modern American history) are the least religious of any generation. Most Millennials are unable to define their beliefs, which is compounded by the fact that 65 percent of Millennials do not regularly attend worship services. I find these two statements very unsettling and very disturbing for several reasons. First, the solvency and future of the church rests in the hands of the Millennials. Second, if Millennials can't define apologetically their beliefs, how will they withstand the frustrations and temptations of a secular world? Third, if 65 percent of Millennials don't regularly attend worship services, spiritual growth will be minimized or become nonexistent. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
