Thirty years into practicing physical therapy, author Ruth E. Smith decided to officially join the mind-body-spirit revolution in health care. Throughout her professional career, this uprising had gained momentum as a larger number of health care clinicians recognized the gaps in the current model of patient care. These gaps represented the disconnect in caring for and treating patients as a whole person with an integrated mind, body, and spirit. In Without Boundaries, Smith seeks to supplement your physical therapy action plan by offering self-hypnosis as a mind-body-spirit approach to optimize your physical recovery. She discusses how the mind’s powers of belief, language, mindfulness, and imagination must be understood and thoughtfully implemented to optimize the healing outcome. Self-hypnosis is the recommended “power tool” since these four powers are integral to this form of mental practice. Without Boundaries offers a guide, a workbook, filled with principles and protocols to help you become a master self-hypnotherapist. You’ll learn how to optimize the mind-body-spirit approach, reach your goals with this self-healing method, and live your best life.

Tomiyama Taeko, a Japanese visual artist born in 1921, is changing the way World War II is remembered in Japan, Asia, and the world. Her work deals with complicated moral and emotional issues of empire and war responsibility that cannot be summed up in simple slogans, which makes it compelling for more than just its considerable beauty. Japanese today are still grappling with the effects of World War II, and, largely because of the inconsistent and ambivalent actions of the government, they are widely seen as resistant to accepting responsibility for their nation’s violent actions against others during the decades of colonialism and war. Yet some individuals, such as Tomiyama, have produced nuanced and reflective commentaries on those experiences, and on the difficulty of disentangling herself from the priorities of the nation despite her lifelong political dissent. Tomiyama’s sophisticated visual commentary on Japan’s history—and on the global history in which Asia is embedded—provides a compelling guide through the difficult terrain of modern historical remembrance, in a distinctively Japanese voice.

We are all susceptible to negative external influences, but hidden within each of us is a spiritual power that is waiting to be rediscovered. In this insightful and practical book, based on the author’s personal reflections and life-long experience as a pupil and teacher of spirituality, Jim Ryan presents a unique examination of the mind as it is now, together with practical ways to develop a more spiritual way of thinking and being. Firstly, he shows you how to recognize and change the five negative states of mind: the stone mind, the hollow mind, the coral mind, the fragrant mind and the sponge mind. Then he sets out the pathway to change, helping you to rediscover nine positive mind states, including the wisdom mind, the love mind, the divine mind and ultimately the angelic mind. Aimed at all spiritual thinkers, regardless of religious background, this book shows you how to move from one mind state and how to reconnect with your inner spiritual power. ,

More than a century after the Hmong fled atrocities in southern China, they became trapped in a long civil war in Laos and were involved in more than a decade-long alliance with the United States, fighting against the Communists' expansion in Indochina during the Vietnam War. The Hmong who sided with the United States in the war had faced two major impacts. First, the war had caused unimaginable suffering, a great loss of lives, and a dramatic effect on their natural way of life. Second, after the war, those who managed to escape to Thailand had felt their future was in limbo, while those left behind faced starvation, mass massacres, and persecution. In A World Without Boundaries, Xiong weaves descriptive details of haunting and vivid accounts of suffering of a people in a social and political culture that not only perpetuated nepotism, corruption, and wars, but also fostered an inequality among ethnicities, genders, and social economic castes. It is a story of acts of violence, bloodshed, and heartbreak, of love and sacrifice, and above all, of a people who continue to endure many difficulties, yet strive to achieve a better life in an increasingly complex world after they have lost everything. Book jacket.

Minds Without Fear written by Nalini Bhushan and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-05-26 with Philosophy categories.
Minds Without Fear is an intellectual and cultural history of India during the period of British occupation. It demonstrates that this was a period of renaissance in India in which philosophy--both in the public sphere and in the Indian universities--played a central role in the emergence of a distinctively Indian modernity. This is also a history of Indian philosophy. It demonstrates how the development of a secular philosophical voice facilitated the construction of modern Indian society and the consolidation of the nationalist movement. Authors Nalini Bhushan and Jay Garfield explore the complex role of the English language in philosophical and nationalist discourse, demonstrating both the anxieties that surrounded English, and the processes that normalized it as an Indian vernacular and academic language. Garfield and Bhushan attend to both Hindu and Muslim philosophers, to public and academic intellectuals, to artists and art critics, and to national identity and nation-building. Also explored is the complex interactions between Indian and European thought during this period, including the role of missionary teachers and the influence of foreign universities in the evolution of Indian philosophy. This pattern of interaction, although often disparaged as "inauthentic" is continuous with the cosmopolitanism that has always characterized the intellectual life of India, and that the philosophy articulated during this period is a worthy continuation of the Indian philosophical tradition.
