Esta colección corresponde a un interés por difundir los resultados de la investigación de los integrantes del Programa de Posgrado de Pedagogía de la UNAM. The history of education in the modern world is a history of transnational and cross-cultural influence. This collection explores those influences in (post) colonial and indigenous education across different geographical contexts. The authors emphasize how local actors constructed their own adaptation of colonialism, identity, and autonomy, creating a multi-centric and entangled history of modern education. In both formal as well as informal aspects, they demonstrate that transnational and cross-cultural exchanges in education have been characterized by appropriation, re-contextualization, and hybridization, thereby rejecting traditional notions of colonial education as an export of pre-existing metropolitan educational systems.

La Renovación Pedagógica en España goza de una amplia y dilatada trayectoria: desde finales del siglo XIX hasta nuestros días tenemos un sinfín de experiencias educativas que, remando contracorriente, a veces con gran admiración otras con profunda incomprensión, han intentado construir un arquetipo educativo profundamente distinto al de la escuela convencional y hegemónica. A lo largo de este amplio periodo vislumbramos distintas etapas o, como preferimos llamar nosotros, "impulsos". El primero se inicia a finales del siglo XIX y perdura hasta finales de la II República, el segundo va desde finales del franquismo hasta los primeros años de la mal nombrada transición democrática, y el tercer impulso, el más actual, lo situamos a principios del nuevo milenio hasta nuestros días. Este libro aborda la compleja y rica cuestión de la renovación pedagógica desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar –histórica, filosófica, pedagógica, sociológica, psicológica, arquitectónica y ecológica– con el fin de dar un paso más a lo que se ha dicho sobre ella. Desde una mirada crítica, abierta y plural, situamos la renovación pedagógica en el marco educativo y social actual que, a pesar de las limitaciones que impone, ofrece posibilidades educativas no siempre suficientemente exploradas.
