They are printed substantially as they were de livered to the faculty and students of Princeton Theological Seminary in February, 1898. Their object was to sketch in broad outline the spirit of the Eastern peoples, the present making of history in Asia and the part therein of Christian Missions. They are at once the fruit and the ground of the conviction, vindicated by the obvious facts of history and of life, that Christ is the present Lord and King of all life and his tory and their certain goal.
