Inclusive Leadership written by Peter A. Wuffli and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-10-01 with Business & Economics categories.

This insightful management book introduces an inspirational new ethics-oriented approach to business and leadership for current and future leaders. It argues that the challenges of today's global era require a new, more holistic and ethical leadership approach than conventional concepts suggest. A framework for the concept of "inclusive leadership" is developed by linking leadership challenges and tasks to the transforming world. Based on over thirty years professional experience in various sectors of society and in both executive and advisory roles in business, the author offers practical suggestions on how to apply inclusive leadership in day-to-day activities. The book also emphasizes how ethics and virtues should influence and shape leadership, a link that is often absent in conventional leadership literature. Building a bridge between theory and practice, this book offers both practical and academic perspectives, with the ideas and concepts illustrated with many real-life examples.

The neurosciences propose that the concept of will is scientifically untenable - it is our brain rather than our 'self' that controls our choices. Yet we seem to be confronted with increasing free choice in all areas of life. Using up-to-date empirical research in the social sciences and philosophy, this volume addresses the seeming contradiction.

The Socratic Handbook written by Michael Noah Weiss and has been published by LIT Verlag Münster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015 with Philosophy categories.

In this book, 34 renowned philosophical practitioners from 20 different countries present a variety of dialogue methods for philosophical practice, which have never before been published in such a compact and compiled form. By having Socrates and his method of maieutics (the art of midwifery of the soul, as he called it) as one of its main sources of inspiration, the book offers different methodological approaches in order to prompt people to wonder, to reflect, to change perspective, and to think differently; in short, to make people philosophize about life and the way they live it. A Criminology Of Moral Order written by Boutellier, Hans and has been published by Bristol University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-16 with Social Science categories.

Moral order is disturbed by criminal events. However in a secularized and networked society a common moral ground is increasingly hard to find. People feel confused about the bigger issues of our time such as crime, anti-social behaviour, Islamist radicalism, sexual harassment and populism. Traditionally, issues around morality have been neglected by criminologists. Through theory, case studies and discussion this book sheds a new and topical light on these concerns. Using the moral perspective Boutellier bridges the gap between people’s emotional opinions on crime, and criminologists rationalised answers to questions of crime and security.

Altered States Of Consciousness written by Marc Wittmann and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-11-07 with Psychology categories.

What altered states of consciousness—the dissolution of feelings of time and self—can tell us about the mystery of consciousness. During extraordinary moments of consciousness—shock, meditative states and sudden mystical revelations, out-of-body experiences, or drug intoxication—our senses of time and self are altered; we may even feel time and self dissolving. These experiences have long been ignored by mainstream science, or considered crazy fantasies. Recent research, however, has located the neural underpinnings of these altered states of mind. In this book, neuropsychologist Marc Wittmann shows how experiences that disturb or widen our everyday understanding of the self can help solve the mystery of consciousness. Wittmann explains that the relationship between consciousness of time and consciousness of self is close; in extreme circumstances, the experiences of space and self intensify and weaken together. He considers the emergence of the self in waking life and dreams; how our sense of time is distorted by extreme situations ranging from terror to mystical enlightenment; the experience of the moment; and the loss of time and self in such disorders as depression, schizophrenia, and epilepsy. Dostoyevsky reported godly bliss during epileptic seizures; neurologists are now investigating the phenomenon of the epileptic aura. Wittmann describes new studies of psychedelics that show how the brain builds consciousness of self and time, and discusses pilot programs that use hallucinogens to treat severe depression, anxiety, and addiction. If we want to understand our consciousness, our subjectivity, Wittmann argues, we must not be afraid to break new ground. Studying altered states of consciousness leads us directly to the heart of the matter: time and self, the foundations of consciousness.
