Os estudos sobre mitologia têm revelado a perenidade e a permanência dos mitos ao longo dos diversos períodos históricos e literários. Particularmente o mito de Orfeu revela-se de uma enorme capacidade de adaptação às diversas realidades nacionais. Neste estudo, o pesquisador se debruça sobre a presença do mito de Orfeu nas obras: as Geórgicas, do poeta latino Virgílio; Orfeu da Conceição, do poeta brasileiro Vinicius de Moraes, e Orpheus Descending, do dramaturgo estadunidense Tennessee Williams. Com o auxílio do referencial teórico de Gerard Genette, este estudo procura demonstrar de que maneira a obra de Virgílio inspirou as peças teatrais de Vinicius e de Tennessee, de alto valor literário. Considerando o episódio específico da catábase, ou a descida do poeta ao reino dos mortos, o pesquisador a analisa em cada uma das obras, comparando-as em busca de similaridades e diferenciações. A catábase é descrita e evidenciada em um percurso que destaca a potência do amor, a inevitabilidade da morte e a consecução de uma trajetória de descenso e de ascensão.

This book is a comprehensive study of peripheral locations in contemporary European TV crime series. Ambitiously, it covers the complete geography of Europe, and offers a nuanced image of a changing, dynamic, and unfinished continent. The chapters include analyses of the practical, creative approach to producing crime series in European peripheries and rural areas, evaluating a continent marked by an internal crisis between urban and rural Europe. The study includes readings of crime series such as Shetland, Bitter Daisies, Trom, Pagan Peak, and The Border, but presents such representative cases within broader tendencies on the European TV market, including challenges from streaming services, the influence of Nordic Noir, and changes within the cognitive geography of Europe. Noted as a ‘civil poet’ by Alberto Moravia, Pier Paolo Pasolini was a creative and philosophical genius whose works challenged generations of Western Europeans and Americans to reconsider not only issues regarding the self, but also various social concerns. Pasolini’s works touched and continues to inspire students, scholars, and intellectuals alike to question the status quo. This collection of thirteen articles and two interviews evidences the on-going discourse around Pasolini’s lasting impressions on the new generation. Pasolini’s Lasting Impressions: Death, Eros and Literary Enterprise in the Opus of Pier Paolo Pasolini thus explores the civic poet’s oeuvre in four parts: poetry, theatre, film, and culture. Although the collection does not include every genre in which Pasolini wrote, it addresses many, some which often receive little or no attention, particularly in Italian Studies of North America. The underlining theme of the book, ‘death, eros and literary enterprise’ intertwines these genres in a rather unique way, allowing for inter-disciplinary interpretations to Pasolini’s rich opus. The edited volume concludes with two artists, Dacia Maraini and Ominio71’s reflections on Pasolini in the 21st century. In fact, the cover represents a recent work on Ominio71 underscoring Pasolini’s visual presence still within the Roman walls.
