Modeling and Analysis of Passive Vibration Isolation Systems discusses a wide range of dynamic models that can be used for the design and analysis of passive vibration isolation systems. These models range from linear viscoelastic single degree-of-freedom systems to multiple degree-of-freedom nonlinear systems. They can be used to evaluate hyperelasticity and creep, and to represent the inertia effect for an evaluation of vibroacoustic characteristics at high frequencies. This book also highlights specific nonlinear behavior, displacement-limiting designs, hyperelastic behavior, and characteristics associated with elastomeric materials for each model. It also identifies key attributes, limitations, and constraints, providing a holistic reference that can be used for the design and analysis of passive vibration isolators. Modeling and Analysis of Passive Vibration Isolation Systems serves as a reference for engineers and researchers involved in the design, development, modeling, analysis, and testing of passive vibration isolation systems and as a reference for a graduate course in vibration modeling and analysis. - Outlines the use of multiple models for optimal passive vibration isolation system design - Discusses the effects system design has on subsequent product development components and parameters - Includes applied examples from the automotive, aerospace, civil engineering and machine tool industries - Presents models that can be extended or modified to investigate different means of passive isolation, nonlinearities, and specific design configurations - Considers specific elastomer characteristics such as Mullins and Payne effects for theoretical modeling and analysis

The Bio Inspired X Structure Mechanism Approach For Exploring Nonlinear Benefits In Engineering written by Xingjian Jing and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-09-21 with Science categories.
This book presents a unique approach to the design and analysis of beneficial nonlinearity, which can take an important and critical role in engineering systems and thus cannot be simply ignored in structural design, dynamic response analysis, and parameter selection. A key issue in the area is thus systematically addressed about how to analyze and design potential nonlinearities introduced to or inherent in a system of under study, which is a must-do task in many practical applications involving vibration control, energy harvesting, sensor systems and robots, etc. This book, therefore, presents an up-to-date summary on the most recent development of a cutting-edge method for nonlinearity manipulation and employment developed in recent several years, named as the X-shaped structure or mechanism approach. The method is inspired from animal leg/limb skeletons and can provide passive low-cost high-efficiency adjustable and beneficial nonlinear stiffness (high static and ultra-low dynamic), nonlinear damping (dependent on resonant frequency and vibration excitation amplitude) and nonlinear inertia (low static and high dynamic) individually or simultaneously. The X-shaped structure or mechanism is a generic structure or mechanism representing a class of beneficial geometric nonlinearity with realizable and flexible linkage mechanism or structural design of different variants or forms (quadrilateral, diamond, polygon, K/Z/S/V-shape, or others) which all share similar geometric nonlinearity and thus similar nonlinear stiffness/damping properties, flexible in design, and easy to implement. This book systematically reviews the research background, motivation, essential bio-inspired ideas, advantages of this novel method, beneficial nonlinear properties in stiffness, damping and inertia, and potential applications, which have been developed ever since 2010. This book reveals important nonlinear properties and dynamic characteristics of nonlinear inertia that can be provided through the X-structure/mechanism and also presents advantageous features of X-structure/mechanism methods in multi-direction vibration control.

Model Order Reduction For Design Analysis And Control Of Nonlinear Vibratory Systems written by Cyril Touzé and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-10-15 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The book presents reduction methods that are using tools from dynamical systems theory in order to provide accurate models for nonlinear dynamical solutions occurring in mechanical systems featuring either smooth or non smooth nonlinearities. The cornerstone of the chapters is the use of methods defined in the framework of the invariant manifold theory for nonlinear systems, which allows definitions of efficient methods generating the most parsimonious nonlinear models having minimal dimension, and reproducing the dynamics of the full system under generic assumptions. Emphasis is put on the development of direct computational methods for finite element structures. Once the reduced order model obtained, numerical and analytical methods are detailed in order to get a complete picture of the dynamical solutions of the system in terms of stability and bifurcation. Applications from the MEMS and aerospace industry are covered and analyzed. Geometric nonlinearity, friction nonlinearity and contacts in jointed structures, detection and use of internal resonance, electromechanical and piezoelectric coupling with passive control, parametric driving are surveyed as key applications. The connection to digital twins is reviewed in a general manner, opening the door to the efficient use of invariant manifold theory for nonlinear analysis, design and control of engineering structures.

In order to develop innovative products, to reduce development costs and the number of prototypes and to accelerate development processes, numerical simulations become more and more attractive. As such, numerical simulations are instrumental in understanding complicated material properties like chemical ageing, crack propagation or the strain- and temperature-induced crystallisation of rubber. Therefore, experimentally validated and physically meaningful constitutive models are indispensable. Elastomers are used for products like tyres, engine and suspension mounts or seals, to name a few. The interest in modelling the quasi-static stress-strain behaviour was dominant in the past decades, but nowadays the interests also include influences of environmental conditions. The latest developments on the material behaviour of elastomers are collected in the present volume. Constitutive Models for Rubber X is a comprehensive compilation of nearly all oral and poster contributions to the European Conference on Constitutive Models for Rubber (Munich, 28-31 August 2017). The 95 highly topical contributions reflect the state of-the-art in material modelling and testing of elastomers. They cover the fields of material testing and processing, filler reinforcement, electromagnetic sensitive elastomers, dynamic properties, constitutive modelling, micromechanics, finite element implementation, stress softening, chemical ageing, fatigue and durability. In the area of rubbery materials and structures, applied research will play an important role also in the coming decades. Constitutive Models for Rubber X is of interest to developers and researchers involved in the rubber processing and CAE software industries, as well as for academics in nearly all disciplines of engineering and material sciences.
