Why does the World Need—Excel Data Analysis, Modeling, and Simulation? When spreadsheets ?rst became widely available in the early 1980s, it spawned a revolution in teaching. What previously could only be done with arcane software and large scale computing was now available to the common-man, on a desktop. Also, before spreadsheets, most substantial analytical work was done outside the classroom where the tools were; spreadsheets and personal computers moved the work into the classroom. Not only did it change how the analysis curriculum was taught, but it also empowered students to venture out on their own to explore new ways to use the tools. I can’t tell you how many phone calls, of?ce visits, and/or emails I have received in my teaching career from ecstatic students crowing about what they have just done with a spreadsheet model. I have been teaching courses related to spreadsheet based analysis and modeling for about 25 years and I have watched and participated in the spreadsheet revolution.

Modeling The World In A Spreadsheet written by Timothy John Cartwright and has been published by Baltimore, Md. : John Hopkins University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Architecture categories.

Until recently, simulation modeling was regarded as the domain of powerful computers and highly skilled programmers. But that is no longer the case. Thanks to the spreadsheet, simulation modeling is now accessible to anyone with a microcomputer: students and teachers, public officials, engineers and planners, and ordinary citizens concerned about the environment. In Modeling the World in a Spreadsheet, Timothy Cartwright explains how to create models of different environmental phenomena -- ranging from natural processes such as the dispersion of water and air pollution to social processes such as housing affordability. He also describes models for some of the most exciting topics in current computer research, including artificial life, cellular decision-making, and chaos and fractals. Written for both experts and nonexpert, the book provides complete "recipes" for building and running the models in the most popular spreadsheet programs, such as Lotus 1-2-3, SuperCalc, Excel, Quatro, and others. A 3" diskette containing Lotus or SuperCalc data files for all fourteen models may be ordered using a tear-out card that accompanies the book (spreadsheet software is required).

Mathematical Modeling With Excel written by Brian Albright and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-25 with Business & Economics categories.

This text presents a wide variety of common types of models found in other mathematical modeling texts, as well as some new types. However, the models are presented in a very unique format. A typical section begins with a general description of the scenario being modeled. The model is then built using the appropriate mathematical tools. Then it is implemented and analyzed in Excel via step-by-step instructions. In the exercises, we ask students to modify or refine the existing model, analyze it further, or adapt it to similar scenarios.

"I've worked with simulation in business for over 20 years, and Allman really nails it with this book. I admit that I own his previous book on structured finance cash flows, but I was surprised by what I found in here. He addresses the fundamental questions of how decision makers react to simulations and his read was very much in accordance with what I've experienced myself. When it came to the nuts and bolts of describing the different types of simulation analysis the book becomes incredibly detailed. There is working code and models for a fantastic array of the most common simulation problems. If you're so inclined, the book very carefully steps through the tricky math needed to really understand the theory behind stochastic modeling in finance. If you're preparing models that include any kind of randomization or stochastic modeling component, this book is a must-read, a tremendous value and time-saver." — David Brode of The Brode Group A practical guide to understanding and implementing financial simulation modeling As simulation techniques become more popular among the financial community and a variety of sub-industries, a thorough understanding of theory and implementation is critical for practitioners involved in portfolio management, risk management, pricing, and capital budgeting. Financial Simulation Modeling in Excel contains the information you need to make the most informed decisions possible in your professional endeavors. Financial Simulation Modeling in Excel contains a practical, hands-on approach to learning complex financial simulation methodologies using Excel and VBA as a medium. Crafted in an easy to understand format, this book is suitable for anyone with a basic understanding of finance and Excel. Filled with in-depth insights and expert advice, each chapter takes you through the theory behind a simulation topic and the implementation of that same topic in Excel/VBA in a step-by-step manner. Organized in an easy-to-follow fashion, this guide effectively walks you through the process of creating and implementing risk models in Excel A companion website contains all the Excel models risk experts and quantitative analysts need to practice and confirm their results as they progress Keith Allman is the author of other successful modeling books, including Corporate Valuation Modeling and Modeling Structured Finance Cash Flows with Microsoft Excel Created for those with some background in finance and experience in Excel, this reliable resource shows you how to effectively perform sound financial simulation modeling, even if you've yet to do extensive modeling up to this point in your professional or academic career.

Credit Risk Modeling Using Excel And Vba written by Gunter Löeffler and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-04-30 with Business & Economics categories.

In today's increasingly competitive financial world, successful risk management, portfolio management, and financial structuring demand more than up-to-date financial know-how. They also call for quantitative expertise, including the ability to effectively apply mathematical modeling tools and techniques, in this case credit. Credit Risk Modeling using Excel and VBA with DVD provides practitioners with a hands on introduction to credit risk modeling. Instead of just presenting analytical methods it shows how to implement them using Excel and VBA, in addition to a detailed description in the text a DVD guides readers step by step through the implementation. The authors begin by showing how to use option theoretic and statistical models to estimate a borrowers default risk. The second half of the book is devoted to credit portfolio risk. The authors guide readers through the implementation of a credit risk model, show how portfolio models can be validated or used to access structured credit products like CDO’s. The final chapters address modeling issues associated with the new Basel Accord.
