The P-40 was a dependable warhorse that provided valuable service throughout World War II. The earliest operational variants were used to great effect by the famous 'Flying Tigers' in China, and the P-40 went on to serve in almost every theatre of the war. Modellers are well served with P-40 variants from major manufacturers and after-market companies, and this book helps make the most of the products available. The projects featured in clear step-by-step detail include a 1/32 'Flying Tiger' P-40B, an RAAF Kittyhawk Mk.IV in 1/48, a TP-40N two-seat trainer in 1/48 and an RAF Desert Kittyhawk in 1/72 scale. Superb colour reference photographs and detailed lists of kits and accessories available round off this authoritative treatment.

Mathematical modelling in biomedicine is a rapidly developing scientific discipline at the intersection of medicine, biology, mathematics, physics, and computer science. Its progress is stimulated by fundamental scientific questions and by the applications to public health. This book represents a collection of papers devoted to mathematical modelling of various physiological problems in normal and pathological conditions. It covers a broad range of topics including cardiovascular system and diseases, heart and brain modelling, tumor growth, viral infections, and immune response. Computational models of blood circulation are used to study the influence of heart arrhythmias on coronary blood flow and on operating modes for left-ventricle-assisted devices. Wave propagation in the cardiac tissue is investigated in order to show the influence of tissue heterogeneity and fibrosis. The models of tumor growth are used to determine optimal protocols of antiangiogenic and radiotherapy. The models of viral hepatitis kinetics are considered for the parameter identification, and the evolution of viral quasi-species is investigated. The book presents the state-of-the-art in mathematical modelling in biomedicine and opens new perspectives in this passionate field of research.

Advances In Intelligent Modelling And Simulation written by Joanna Kołodziej and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-07-11 with Technology & Engineering categories.

One of the most challenging issues in today’s large-scale computational modeling and design is to effectively manage the complex distributed environments, such as computational clouds, grids, ad hoc, and P2P networks operating under various types of users with evolving relationships fraught with uncertainties. In this context, the IT resources and services usually belong to different owners (institutions, enterprises, or individuals) and are managed by different administrators. Moreover, uncertainties are presented to the system at hand in various forms of information that are incomplete, imprecise, fragmentary, or overloading, which hinders in the full and precise resolve of the evaluation criteria, subsequencing and selection, and the assignment scores. Intelligent scalable systems enable the flexible routing and charging, advanced user interactions and the aggregation and sharing of geographically-distributed resources in modern large-scale systems. This book presents new ideas, theories, models, technologies, system architectures and implementation of applications in intelligent scalable computing systems. In 15 chapters, several important Artificial Intelligence-based techniques, such as fuzzy logic, neural networks, evolutionary, and memetic algorithms are studied and implemented. All of those technologies have formed the foundation for the intelligent scalable computing that we know of today. We believe that this book will serve as a reference for students, researchers, and industry practitioners working or interested in joining interdisciplinary research in the areas of intelligent decision systems using emergent distributed computing paradigms. It will also allow newcomers (students and researchers alike) to grasp key issues and potential solutions on the selected topics. The North American P-51 Mustang had a humble genesis as a British request for single engine escort fighters but became, arguably, World War II's most important fighter aircraft. It had incredible endurance, fantastic maneuverability and excellent high-altitude performance, and served throughout World War II and beyond. This aircraft is one that holds a great deal of interest for many modellers around the world. This book takes the modeller from the aircraft's beginnings to the ultimate manifestation of this elegant and deadly bird, the F-82 G/H Twin Mustang. Special attention is paid to painting both both interiors and exteriors, with a wide range of different schemes used.

Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is a subfield of Operations Research, dealing with decision making problems. A decision-making problem is characterized by the need to choose one or a few among a number of alternatives. The field of MCDM assumes special importance in this era of Big Data and Business Analytics. In this volume, the focus will be on modelling-based tools for Business Analytics (BA), with exclusive focus on the sub-field of MCDM within the domain of operations research. The book will include an Introduction to Big Data and Business Analytics, and challenges and opportunities for developing MCDM models in the era of Big Data.
