A New York Times bestseller. From FOX & Friends Weekend cohost Pete Hegseth comes a collection of inspiring stories from fifteen of America’s greatest heroes—highly decorated Navy SEALs, Army Rangers, marines, Purple Heart recipients, combat pilots, a Medal of Honor recipient, and more—based on FOX Nation’s hit show of the same name. After three Army deployments—earning two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman’s Badge—Pete Hegseth knows what it takes to be a modern warrior. In Modern Warriors he presents candid, unfiltered conversations with fellow modern warriors and digs for real answers to key questions like: What inspired them to serve? What is their legacy? What does sacrifice really mean to them? How do they handle loss? And what can civilians learn from this latest generation of veterans? From the skies over Afghanistan to the seas of the Mediterranean to the treacherous streets of Iraq, these brave men and women take you inside the firefight, sharing the harrowing realities of war. Hegseth uses their experiences to facilitate conversations about the raw truths of combat, including the difficulties of transitioning back home, while also celebrating these soldiers’ contributions to preserving our nation’s most precious gift—freedom. In addition to the oral history, Modern Warriors presents dozens of personal, rarely shared photos from the battlefield and the home front. Together these stories and images provide an unvarnished representation of battlefield leadership, military morale, and the strain of war. This book is the perfect keepsake and gift for anyone who wants to know what it means, and what it truly takes, to be a patriot.

"This paper examines the challenges presented to modern warriors by changes in contemporary warfare, and argues that while some of these challenge have been or are being overcome, there are others, particularly those associated with military education and culture, which have yet to be fully recognized, let alone met, and which will require to be so if modern warriors are to be a match for tomorrow's warfare" -- p. 5.

Ninja historian Antony Cummins, himself a skilled martial artist, takes a detailed and realistic look at the Ninja, their methods and their role in the medieval Japanese military, as well as how they compare to today's Special Forces and covert military groups. The chapters include a detailed look at the defensive strategies, engagement against specific threats, intelligence gathering, territorial concerns, mental focus and the spiritual mind-control techniques of these invisible warriors. With over 100 striking illustrations that vividly portray the Ninjas' secret world, this book shines new light on their shadowy methods. In the process, the mythical image of the Ninja is washed away revealing the reality of these commando-spies of medieval Japan.

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 John Wayne Walding, a medic who was born in Texas, was medevaced in from Shok Valley, Afghanistan, after a horrendous firefight. He had a big problem: his leg was folded over, hanging by an inch of flesh. He had to fix it. #2 John Wayne Walding, founder of the Special Forces Sniper School, was also the first amputee to become a Green Beret sniper. He served in the US Army for twelve years, seven of which he was a Green Beret and member of the 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. #3 John Wayne wanted to be better once again. He joined the army, and within thirty days, he had a selection date for the Green Berets. He was assigned to the 3rd Special Forces group, and was sent to Afghanistan on April 6, 2008, to kill or capture a high-value target named Haji Ghafour. #4 The mission was to capture a village that was built into the side of a mountain. The terrain was so rough that the helicopters couldn’t land, so the soldiers had to climb up to the village. Within the first five minutes, over the comms, I heard that C. K. , our lead interpreter, had taken a round in the throat and died on impact.

This report is significant to the United States Army in many ways. The findings found within its pages represent not only a record of what modern warriors carry into battle during dismounted operations, but also could comprise the first recorded battlefield study of combat load undertaken by the United States Army during its 228-year history. Over the decades of the 20th Century, the Army conducted periodic combat load studies during peacetime training events; never before, however, did the Army gather and record such data during combat operations. The Army to full advantage, therefore, should use this report in order to reduce the Soldier's combat load, to modernize Army doctrine, and to accurately train dismounted formations for the physical rigors of war.

In today's often violent world, accepting the warrior path as a way of life is not the prerogative of the modern soldier. We now have warriors in every walk of life, civilian warriors, law enforcement warriors, executive protection warriors, and of course, military warriors. This first volume gives insight into how being a modern warrior impacts our everyday life, how we live through physical and mental conditioning, awareness of personal, mobile, and home security for example. The chapters not only supply the reader with information but require the reader to continually question themselves as they journey along the warrior path.
