My son joined the Army in 2005. He was 18 years old. He was my youngest child and my only son. When he became a teenager, he wanted to go to Arizona to live with his father. When he went to the Army his father would not even give his sister his address because he didn't want her to give it to me. I went to an Army recruiter but his office was closed. I found a Navy recruiter who found out my son was at Fort Hood. When my letters started coming back "not at Fort Hood," I wrote to the government. I received a reply within a week and started writing and sending packages to him and his buddies. When I first knew he was in Iraq I would wake myself up praying for him and his buddies.
