La Monadología es la obra madura de Leibniz (1646-1716), en la cual queda expuesta, en brevísimas síntesis, su concepción global del universo, la concepción de uno de los más geniales pensadores de todos los tiempos. Gottfried Leibniz fue uno de los grandes matematicos. Su gran descubrimiento es el Calculo Infinitesimal, que lo hizo paralelamente a Isaac Newton, que lo llamo Metodo de las Fluxiones. Fue un descubrimiento simultaneo en formas distintas y ademas las notaciones eran diferentes: la de Leibniz es la que ha prevalecido a lo largo de la historia en el Calculo Infinitesimal. Hay un concepto enormemente importante en el centro de la filosofia de Leibniz, el concepto de monada. Monada (sustancia) es una palabra griega que quiere decir unidad. Y llama monadas justamente a los componentes de la realidad. Los verdaderos atomos de la naturaleza. Son precisamente lo que llama sustancias indivisibles, que no tienen partes. Y, por tanto, no pueden proceder por agregacion, justamente porque no tienen partes, ni pueden desaparecer por disgregacion.
