Una rilettura dell’opera crepuscolare di Corrado Govoni (1903-1958) attraverso le ultime due generazioni di autori emiliani, con un’attenzione particolare all’atmosfera ferrarese dal primo Novecento a oggi, si è imposta nello studio di Matteo Bianchi nel momento in cui la cifra elegiaca e l’abbassamento dei toni e del registro lessicale si sono rivelati tratti somatici imprescindibili; con la premessa che la vena intimista di stampo pascoliano sia pulsante lungo l’intera produzione lirica del poeta di Tamara – anche a detta sua – e sia sconfinata per mezzo delle descrizioni paesaggistiche nelle prose poetiche de La santa verde (1919), rendendo Govoni un punto di riferimento per le tendenze letterarie della provincia di Ferrara e di quelle limitrofe. Govoni subì l’esistenza e spesso ne fu travolto, ma i versi cominciarono a registrarlo con nitidezza dopo l’uccisione del figlio Aladino (1944) nelle Fosse Ardeatine per mano dei nazisti. Accadimento che gli fece ritrattare davanti allo specchio ogni cosa, persino quel suo minimo legame alla politica nazionale, rinnegando tutto e ritirandosi in definitiva dalla mondanità erudita mal sopportata. Allora recuperò in veste ancora malinconica, ma senza perdere l’entusiasmo di fondo per la scoperta, il mondo agreste che mai avevo smesso di mancargli. Se la curiosità lo aveva accomunato a Filippo de Pisis, il ritorno nei dintorni ferraresi lo aveva distanziato da coloro che avevano scelto di abbandonare “la musa pentagona” per porti più sicuri, così lo stesso de Pisis e Giorgio Bassani.

Il più antico documento della nostra letteratura è comunemente creduto la cantilena o canzone di Ciullo (diminutivo di Vincenzo) di Alcamo, e una canzone di Folcacchiero da Siena. Quale delle due canzoni sia anteriore, è cosa puerile disputare, essendo esse non principio, ma parte di tutta un'epoca letteraria, cominciata assai prima, e giunta al suo splendore sotto Federico secondo da cui prese il nome. Federico secondo, imperatore d'Alemagna e re di Sicilia, chiamato da Dante “cherico grande”, cioè uomo dottissimo, fu, come leggesi nel novelissimo signore, nella cui corte a Palermo venia “la gente che avea bontade, sonatori, trovatori e belli favellatori”.
