Zehn Jahre danach schreibt Lena Briefe an ihre verstorbene Freundin Helena. Darin werden Fragmente aus dem Leben der beiden Frauen deutlich. Lena reflektiert die Krankheitszeit und drückt Ihr aktuelles Lebensgefühl aus. Nach jahrelanger Erschöpfung ist sie wieder bei Kräften. Ein neues Kapitel in ihrem Leben hat begonnen. Zwei inhaltliche Stränge sind ineinander verwoben: zum einen Lenas Erleben während der Erkrankung und den Therapien, zum anderen Briefe von Lena an ihre Freundin Helena.
