At age twenty-eight, when Tom Osborne agreed to join Bob Devaney?s full-time coaching staff at the University of Nebraska, he resolved to be a head coach by the time he reached age thirty-five. Little did he know that this goal would chart his course toward becoming one of the nation?s premier football coaches. Six years later in 1972, Devaney named Osborne as head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. ø In high school and college, Osborne had been an outstanding athlete in his own right. He went on to play professional football and to earn his master?s and doctorate degrees in educational psychology. Throughout all these years in sports and academics, he was developing his unusual and inspiring philosophy of coaching, which above all emphasizes the process of athletics. ø In More Than Winning, Osborne gives an in-depth personal account of his life?the forces that shaped his values, his own accomplishments in sports, and his experiences as a coach at Nebraska. He describes his philosophy of coaching, shares personal perspectives on football greats, and gives his view of key Nebraska games up through the 1984 Orange Bowl.

Dear Friends,Many of our employees and company leaders were high school athletes. Several of us are today coaches, referees, and boosters. The spirit of competition instilled in us as young athletes lives on, and is a driving force in our business. As much as competition drives us, integrity centers us. Those early lessons from coaches and teachers who taught us that winning isn't everything - but that competing fairly and with integrity is - continue to resonate within our halls. Integrity is one of our core values. Our company has a long history of providing innovative solutions to industries that have been underserved or overlooked. In 2008 we revolutionized tourist rail. In 2010 we liberated dance studio operators. But in October 2015, when we launched StateChamps, it felt a little different. It felt like we finally built something that could give back to the coaches who have given us so much. Our goal with StateChamps is to provide a service to enable these coaches to grow their programs and connect with more fans, while simultaneously giving them more time to focus on what's important: investing in the hearts and minds of young athletes. We delight in building community through our ticketing services to celebrate athletics with those who encourage, coach, and compete. StateChamps is proud to support school activities on the local level by contributing a portion of book sales to booster clubs, with other proceeds supporting the mission of our partner, Athletes for a Better World. Highest Regards,Jeff GaleCEO, StateChamps

Tennis Winning The Mental Match written by Allen Fox and has been published by Allen Fox this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-09-30 with Tennis categories.

Tennis is more mentally difficult than most other sports. Because of its one-on-one nature, it feels more important than it is. Competitive matches can become highly stressful, and losing is painful. Emotions tend to get out of hand, with fears and nerves becoming difficult to control. Confidence comes and goes; the scoring system is diabolical; and everyone is at risk of choking, even the greatest players in the world. This book attacks these and other issues faced by players of all levels. Dr. Allen Fox’s solutions are logical and straightforward, and most importantly, they have been tested on court and they work.

Psychological Foundations Of Attitudes written by Anthony G. Greenwald and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-24 with Psychology categories.

Psychological Foundations of Attitudes presents various approaches and theories about attitudes. The book opens with a chapter on the development of attitude theory from 1930 to 1950. This is followed by separate chapters on the principles of the attitude-reinforcer-discriminative system; a systematic test of a learning theory analysis of interpersonal attraction; a "spread of effect" in attitude formation; Hullian learning theory; and possible origins of learned attitudinal cognitions. Subsequent chapters deal with mechanisms through which attitudes can function as both independent and dependent variables in the attitude-behavior link; and the problem of how people go about applying a summary label to their attitudes and the reciprocal effects that rating has on the content of attitude. The final chapters discuss a commodity theory that relates selective social communication to value formation; the freedoms there are in regard to attitudes; attitude change occasioned by actions which are discrepant from one's previously existing attitudes or values; and the conflict-theory approach to attitude change.

Winning The White House 2008 written by K. McMahon and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-08-31 with Political Science categories.

What does it take to win the White House? This book helps students understand both the issues and how and why people vote for one candidate. After discussing the dynamics of the primary campaigns, the authors examine three broad sets of issues that play a key role in voting: foreign policy, domestic policies, and the culture wars. This sets the foundations for an examination of regional similarities and differences in voting patterns, as the varying salience and valence of issues-whether general or specific-is explored across and within regions. Special attention is paid to battleground states. Drawing on concepts from political science, this book advances students' understanding both of the field and the phenomenon.
