Scrivere queste storie è stato divertente, alcune sono un vero spasso, altre sono più cupe, ma ognuna di loro evidenzia un lato del carattere di Sookie o un episodio della sua vita che nei libri non compaiono. La sua fine è, manco a dirlo, avvolta nel mistero: dopo aver trovato la morte in battaglia, combattendo i turchi, delle sue spoglie si è persa ogni traccia. Questo simbolo di assoluta violenza ferina attraversa i secoli fino a noi e il "morto non morto", oltre a nutrire con la sua fosca grandezza l'immaginario collettivo, produrrà persino emuli in carne e ossa, come ci racconta puntualmente Lantos, tragicamente noti alla cronaca.
