Sometimes even impossible things are what they appear to be… An escape room, an immersive experience, or a different century? Modern woman Isabella Becquerel steps into what she comes to believe to be an escape room game. Set in 1870. Perhaps it is. Perhaps it is not. But either way, it might just be a game she never wants to leave. Her summer holiday most certainly turns out to be something a whole lot different than what she expected. With four sisters, Colton Auclair thought he knew everything about women, but that was before he met Isabella—a young lady from the future. Intrigued by the beautiful, lost stranger who appears on the side of the road, Colton Auclair must accept that he shares his sisters' fate. With her life spinning off course, Colton can redirect her back to her life — and a new happily ever after…

British And Commonwealth Warship Camouflage Of Wwii written by Malcolm Wright and has been published by Casemate Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-09-15 with History categories.

An extensive pictorial history of the official and unofficial camouflage paint schemes used by the Royal Navy and Commonwealth ships during World War II. During the Second World War navies developed low visibility camouflage for their ships, on both the vertical and horizontal surfaces, in order reduce visibility by blending in with the sea, or confuse the identity of a ship by applying more obtrusive patters. In this now classic work by maritime artist Mal Wright both the official and unofficial paint schemes that adorned ships of the Royal Navy and Commonwealth are depicted in detail, along with discussion on changes of armament and electronics that effected the outward appearance of each ship. Starting with destroyers from WW1 still in service during WW2, the book progressively covers ships below cruisers, class by class, to provide a detailed and easy-to-use guide to paint schemes in use. In some cases individual ships are shown in the several schemes they wore thus providing a source that covers various periods of service. With 740 full colour illustrations, all of named vessels, this book concentrates information into a single volume to provide a one-stop reference source, and, for the first time in a single volume, it covers not just the well-known ships, but also escort vessels, minesweepers, trawlers, coastal craft and auxiliaries in sequential format. Many schemes would be difficult for the reader to have found other than with the most intensive research so that historians, collectors, modelmakers and wargamers will find this unique reference source absolutely invaluable.

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 White is a difficult color to make. It can’t be mixed together with other colors, and anything you add to it will only take it in one direction: toward black. It is also toxic. #2 White has long been connected with money and power. Only the wealthy could afford to keep their fresh lace and linen cuffs, ruffs, and cravats pristine. This still holds true today. #3 White has many meanings, but for many, it is positive and has a transcendent, religious quality. It is the Chinese color of death and mourning. In the West and Japan, brides wear it because it is a color symbolic of sexual purity. #4 The architectural idolization of white is based on a mistake. For centuries, the bleached-bone color of classical Greek and Roman ruins was the keystone of Western aesthetics. It was not until the mid-nineteenth century that researchers discovered that classical statuary and buildings were usually brightly painted.

The ‘ShipCraft’ series provides in-depth information about building and modifying model kits of famous warship types. Lavishly illustrated, each book takes the modeller through a brief history of the subject, highlighting differences between ships and changes in their appearance over their careers. This includes paint schemes and camouflage, featuring color profiles and highly detailed line drawings and scale plans. The modelling section reviews the strengths and weaknesses of available kits, lists commercial accessory sets for super-detailing of the subjects, and provides hints on modifying and improving the basic kit. This is followed by an extensive photographic gallery of selected high-quality models in a variety of scales, and the book concludes with a section on research references – books, monographs, large-scale plans and relevant websites. This is the second of two volumes covering Royal Navy 6-inch cruisers of the 1930s and later, this one devoted to the ‘second generation’ designs armed with triple mountings. The Southampton class marked a return to large cruisers, but the urgent requirement for numbers led to the smaller ‘Colonies’ from which all the later RN 6-inch cruisers were derivatives. These ships formed the backbone of British cruiser forces during the Second World War. With its unparalleled level of visual information – paint schemes, models, line drawings and photographs – this book is simply the best reference for any modelmaker setting out to build one of these famous cruisers.

In the wake of his father’s death, Gilbert du Toit begins to see rays of light and schools of fish streaking through the air. He believes that these visions are sending him a message, and sets off to follow his peculiar guides across the vastness of the Great Karoo. A journey that begins with a sense of purpose deteriorates into a manic and unpredictable expedition. When Gilbert’s path crosses that of the Howlers, a trio of ex-convicts touring the country with violin, trumpet and guitar, he is steered to dinosaur parks and backroad bars in the South African hinterland. Yet, as his travels unfold, it becomes clear that his past cannot be outpaced easily. A love affair in Kuils River offers respite, but in the end Gilbert must confront the question: what is the message in the signs he sees all around him? In glimmering prose infused with humour and pathos, Tom Dreyer’s The Long Wave is a tale of transformation, friendship and the mystery at the heart of ordinary life.
