The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) project is research funded by the United States Air Force, the Navy and the University of Alaska with the official purpose of understanding, simulating and controlling ionospheric processes that could change the operation of communications and surveillance systems. It started in 1993 with a series of experiments over twenty years. It is similar to numerous existing ionospheric heaters around the world, and has a large number of diagnostic instruments with the aim of improving the scientific knowledge of ionospheric dynamics. There is speculation that the HAARP project is a US weapon capable of controlling the climate by causing floods and other catastrophes. In 1999, the European Parliament issued a resolution stating that HAARP was manipulating the environment for military purposes, calling for an assessment of the project by Science and Technology Options Assessment (STOA), the European Union body responsible for studying and assessing new technologies. In 2002, the Russian Parliament presented President Vladimir Putinwith a report signed by 90 deputies from the International Relations and Defence committees, claiming that HAARP was a new geophysical weapon capable of manipulating the earth s lower atmosphere. In May 2014 it was announced by the US Air Force that the project would be terminated. The project was created by US Senator Ted Stevens, when he exercised great control over the US defense budget.

Ainda assim, mesmo tendo superado muitas objeções e vivenciado muitas vitórias, a contemporaneidade nos mostra que muito ainda pode ser feito em relação às questões de gênero. Isso porque há ainda desigualdade. A mídia nos mostra diariamente problemas de desrespeito, violência, desprestígio para com a mulher. A amostra de mulheres selecionadas para compor esse quadro de pesquisa, num quantitativo de 20 mulheres, oportuniza a divulgação de histórias de mulheres de Roraima, não somente as que desempenham atividades intelectuais, como no caso de professoras, pesquisadoras, políticas, mas outras mulheres, como lideranças indígenas, parteiras, feirantes, empresárias, líderes sindicais, integrantes de movimentos sociais, no intuito de mostrar a importância da participação delas nos diferentes âmbitos sociais. No que diz respeito à organização do livro, há um conjunto de 5 partes e 20 capítulos. Em cada um dos capítulos são apresentados uma foto de uma representativa mulher roraimense, um poema e sua correspondente biografia.

This book intends to be an alert to the fact that the curve measuring environmental costs against the economic benefits of capitalism has irreversibly entered into a negative phase. The prospect of an environmental collapse has been evidenced by the sciences and the humanities since the 1960s. Today, it imposes its urgency. This collapse differs from past civilizations in that it is neither local nor just civilizational. It is global and occurs at the broadest level of the biosphere, accelerated by the convergence of different socio-environmental crises, such as: Earth energy imbalance, climate change and global warming Sea-level rise Decrease and degradation of forests Collapse of terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity Floods, droughts, wildfires, and extreme weather events Degradation of soils and water resources Increase in pollution caused by fossil fuels and coal Increase in waste production and industrial intoxication The book is divided in two parts. In the first part it presents a comprehensive review of scientific data to show the already visible effects of each of the different environmental crises and its consequences to human life on Earth. In the second part, Luiz Marques critically discusses what he calls the three concentric illusions that prevent us from realizing the gravity of the current socio-environmental crises: the illusion of a sustainable capitalism, the illusion that economic growth is still capable of providing more well-being and the anthropocentric illusion. Finally, Marques argues that "fitting" back into the biosphere will only be possible if we dismantle the expansive socioeconomic gear that has shaped our societies since the 16th century by moving from a Social Contract to a Natural Contract, which takes into account the whole biosphere. Este livro é uma adaptação do meu trabalho de conclusão de curso (TCC) intitulado "Mulheres da terra: um panorama antropológico sobre as diversidades de relações e conexões entre a terra e as mulheres em Abya Yala", requisito necessário para a graduação no bacharelado em Antropologia – Diversidade Cultural Latino-Americana pela Unila. O livro trata sobre as temáticas de gênero e ruralidades, com um enfoque para as relações entre a terra e as mulheres da terra, que são mulheres dos campos, das florestas ou urbanas, que se relacionam com a terra, por meio do cultivo, da alimentação, da saúde, da espiritualidade, dos conflitos por território etc. Elas assumem uma postura de resistência contra a destruição de seus corpos-territórios pela valorização e retomada das agrossabedorias ancestrais femininas transmitidas de geração em geração, lugar desde onde elas se organizam coletivamente em movimentos sociais e organizações políticas na tentativa de eliminar as relações de dominação entre homens e mulheres e entre seres humanos e natureza e gerar uma transformação social. Este livro aborda o tema de maneira interseccional (englobando aspectos de gênero, raça e classe social), as pluralidades de agrossabedorias femininas individuais, coletivas e ancestrais, e realiza, pela metodologia de etnografia multissituada, uma análise crítica de materiais bibliográficos, audiovisuais e entrevistas qualitativas realizadas durante a pandemia da Covid-19 de maneira virtual. A proposta é realçar as vozes de 12 mulheres entrevistadas que compartilham seus saberes e demonstrar que, por intermédio da busca cotidiana por uma vida mais "sana" e por autonomia e soberania para seus corpos-territórios em conexão com a Pachamama, elas propõem transformações sociais baseadas nessas cosmovisões e cosmopráticas, principalmente em alternativas de vida mais autônomas e ecológicas para curar as mulheres e a terra em Abya Yala.
