We elaborate a multi-agent based optimization method for combinatorial optimization problems named MAOM-COP. It combines metaheuristics, multiagent systems and reinforcement learning. Although the existing heuristics contain several techniques to escape local optimum, they do not have an entire vision of the evolution of optimization search. Our main objective consists in using the multi-agent system to create intelligent cooperative methods of search. These methods explore several existing metaheuristics. MAOMCOP is composed of the following agents: the decisionmaker agent, the intensification agents and the diversification agents which are composed of the perturbation agent and the crossover agents. Based on learning techniques, the decision-maker agent decides dynamically which agent to activate between intensification agents and crossover agents. If the intensifications agents are activated, they apply local search algorithms. During their searches, they can exchange information, as they can trigger the perturbation agent. If the crossover agents are activated, they perform recombination operations. We applied MAOMCOP to the following problems: quadratic assignment, graph coloring, winner determination and multidimensional knapsack. MAOM-COP shows competitive performances compared with the approaches of the literature.

Distributed Cooperative Control And Optimization For Multi Agent Systems written by Qing Wang and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-03-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book provides a concise and in-depth exposition of distributed control and optimization problems of multi-agent systems. The book integrates various ideas and tools from dynamic systems, control theory, graph theory, and optimization to address the special challenges posed by such complexities in the environment as communication delay, topological dynamics, and environmental uncertainties. In order to deal with the mismatched uncertainties and time delay, observer-based controller and sliding mode control are developed to achieve consensus control. When there is a leader or multiple leaders in the communication topologies, containment control is required. The book studies both state and output containment for nonlinear multi-agent systems with undirected or directed networks. Furthermore, event-triggered schemes are proposed to reduce communication and computation costs. Distributed optimization for multi-agent systems is an interesting topic that has attracted more and more attention due to its wide range of applications such as smart grids, sensor networks, and mobile manipulators. In distributed optimization, the goal is to optimize the global cost function, which is the sum of all local cost functions, each of which is known only by its own local agent. Distributed nonsmooth convex optimization for multi-agent systems based on proximal operators is developed to achieve distributed optimal consensus.

Multi Agent Online Optimization written by Deming Yuan and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-01-07 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This monograph provides an overview of distributed online optimization in multi-agent systems. Online optimization approaches planning and decision problems from a robust learning perspective, where one learns through feedback from sequentially arriving costs, resembling a game between a learner (agent) and the environment. Recently, multi-agent systems have become important in diverse areas including smart power grids, communication networks, machine learning, and robotics, where agents work with decentralized data, costs, and decisions to collectively minimize a system-wide cost. In such settings, agents make distributed decisions and collaborate with neighboring agents through a communication network, leading to scalable solutions that often perform as well as centralized methods. The monograph offers a unified introduction, starting with fundamental algorithms for basic problems, and gradually covering state-of-the-art techniques for more complex settings. The interplay between individual agent learning rates, network structure, and communication complexity is highlighted in the overall system performance.
