This textbook proposes an informal access to the most important issues of multidimensional differential and integral calculus. The traditional style—characterized by listing definitions, theorems, and proofs—is replaced by a conversational approach, primarily oriented to applications. The topics covered, developing along the usual path of a textbook for undergraduate courses, are always introduced by thoroughly carried out examples. This drives the reader in building the capacity of properly use the theoretical tools to model and solve practical problems. To situate the contents within a historical perspective, the book is accompanied by a number of links to the biographies of all scientists mentioned as leading actors in the development of the theory.

An authorised reissue of the long out of print classic textbook, Advanced Calculus by the late Dr Lynn Loomis and Dr Shlomo Sternberg both of Harvard University has been a revered but hard to find textbook for the advanced calculus course for decades. This book is based on an honors course in advanced calculus that the authors gave in the 1960's. The foundational material, presented in the unstarred sections of Chapters 1 through 11, was normally covered, but different applications of this basic material were stressed from year to year, and the book therefore contains more material than was covered in any one year. It can accordingly be used (with omissions) as a text for a year's course in advanced calculus, or as a text for a three-semester introduction to analysis. The prerequisites are a good grounding in the calculus of one variable from a mathematically rigorous point of view, together with some acquaintance with linear algebra. The reader should be familiar with limit and continuity type arguments and have a certain amount of mathematical sophistication. As possible introductory texts, we mention Differential and Integral Calculus by R Courant, Calculus by T Apostol, Calculus by M Spivak, and Pure Mathematics by G Hardy. The reader should also have some experience with partial derivatives. In overall plan the book divides roughly into a first half which develops the calculus (principally the differential calculus) in the setting of normed vector spaces, and a second half which deals with the calculus of differentiable manifolds.

Modern Multidimensional Calculus written by Marshall Evans Munroe and has been published by Courier Dover Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-05-15 with Mathematics categories.

A second-year calculus text, this volume is devoted primarily to topics in multidimensional analysis. Concepts and methods are emphasized, and rigorous proofs are sometimes replaced by relevant discussion and explanation. Because of the author's conviction that the differential provides a most elegant and useful tool, especially in a multidimensional setting, the notion of the differential is used extensively and matrix methods are stressed in the study of linear transformations. The first three chapters offer introductory material on functions and variables, differentials, and vectors in the plane. Succeeding chapters examine topics in linear algebra, partial derivatives, and applications as well as topics in vector differential calculus. The final chapters explore multiple integrals in addition to line and surface integrals. Exercises appear throughout the text, and answers are provided, making the book ideal for self-study.

A cross between a textbook and a monograph, this extensive introduction discusses all of the most important transformations, compiling information otherwise scattered throughout the literature. Attention is concentrated on the operational calculus of the major integral transformations and some of its applications, with an investigation of transforms in spaces of functions and of distributions. Introduction To Analysis In Several Variables Advanced Calculus written by Michael E. Taylor and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-27 with Education categories.

This text was produced for the second part of a two-part sequence on advanced calculus, whose aim is to provide a firm logical foundation for analysis. The first part treats analysis in one variable, and the text at hand treats analysis in several variables. After a review of topics from one-variable analysis and linear algebra, the text treats in succession multivariable differential calculus, including systems of differential equations, and multivariable integral calculus. It builds on this to develop calculus on surfaces in Euclidean space and also on manifolds. It introduces differential forms and establishes a general Stokes formula. It describes various applications of Stokes formula, from harmonic functions to degree theory. The text then studies the differential geometry of surfaces, including geodesics and curvature, and makes contact with degree theory, via the Gauss–Bonnet theorem. The text also takes up Fourier analysis, and bridges this with results on surfaces, via Fourier analysis on spheres and on compact matrix groups.

Advanced Calculus Of Several Variables written by C. H. Edwards and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-10 with Mathematics categories.

Advanced Calculus of Several Variables provides a conceptual treatment of multivariable calculus. This book emphasizes the interplay of geometry, analysis through linear algebra, and approximation of nonlinear mappings by linear ones. The classical applications and computational methods that are responsible for much of the interest and importance of calculus are also considered. This text is organized into six chapters. Chapter I deals with linear algebra and geometry of Euclidean n-space Rn. The multivariable differential calculus is treated in Chapters II and III, while multivariable integral calculus is covered in Chapters IV and V. The last chapter is devoted to venerable problems of the calculus of variations. This publication is intended for students who have completed a standard introductory calculus sequence.

This collection of papers by outstanding contributors in analysis, partial differential equations and several complex variables is dedicated to Professor Treves in honour of his 65th birthday. There are five excellent survey articles covering analytic singularities, holomorphically nondegenerate algebraic hypersurfaces, analyticity of CR mappings, removable singularities of vector fields and local solvability for systems of vector fields. The other papers are original research contributions on topics such as Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations, Toeplitz operators, elliptic structures, complexification of Lie groups, and pseudo-differential operators.

Multidimensional Singular Integrals and Integral Equations presents the results of the theory of multidimensional singular integrals and of equations containing such integrals. Emphasis is on singular integrals taken over Euclidean space or in the closed manifold of Liapounov and equations containing such integrals. This volume is comprised of eight chapters and begins with an overview of some theorems on linear equations in Banach spaces, followed by a discussion on the simplest properties of multidimensional singular integrals. Subsequent chapters deal with compounding of singular integrals; properties of the symbol, with particular reference to Fourier transform of a kernel and the symbol of a singular operator; singular integrals in Lp spaces; and singular integral equations. The differentiation of integrals with a weak singularity is also considered, along with the rule for the multiplication of the symbols in the general case. The final chapter describes several applications of multidimensional singular integral equations to boundary problems in mathematical physics. This book will be of interest to mathematicians and students of mathematics.

Multivariable Calculus written by Don Shimamoto and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-17 with Calculus categories.

This book covers the standard material for a one-semester course in multivariable calculus. The topics include curves, differentiability and partial derivatives, multiple integrals, vector fields, line and surface integrals, and the theorems of Green, Stokes, and Gauss. Roughly speaking, the book is organized into three main parts corresponding to the type of function being studied: vector-valued functions of one variable, real-valued functions of many variables, and, finally, the general case of vector-valued functions of many variables. As is always the case, the most productive way for students to learn is by doing problems, and the book is written to get to the exercises as quickly as possible. The presentation is geared towards students who enjoy learning mathematics for its own sake. As a result, there is a priority placed on understanding why things are true and a recognition that, when details are sketched or omitted, that should be acknowledged. Otherwise, the level of rigor is fairly normal. Matrices are introduced and used freely. Prior experience with linear algebra is helpful, but not required. Latest corrected printing: January 8, 2020.
