Multilingual Entity Linking written by Chen-Tse Tsai and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-17 with Computers categories.

This book focuses on Entity Discovery and Linking (EDL), which is the problem of identifying concepts and entities, disambiguating them, and grounding them to one or more knowledge bases (KBs). The authors first provide background on the topic and emphasize why it is a crucial step toward understanding natural language text. As most of the content on the internet is not in English, the book also discusses cross-lingual EDL. The authors present the challenges associated with EDL problems and explain the existing solutions. The book covers the core challenges that apply to all EDL problems, as well as the additional challenges associated with cross-lingual EDL problems. The authors also survey relevant research papers, highlight recent trends, and identify areas for future research.

This research book explores the adaptation of traditional Entity Linking techniques to Mathematical Entity Linking (MathEL) for STEM disciplines, addressing the limitations of current Information Retrieval methods in handling mathematical expressions. By developing and evaluating novel MathEL approaches using AI, Machine Learning, and the Wikidata Knowledge Graph, significant progress is achieved in areas such as Formula Concept recognition, semantic formula search, mathematical question answering, physics exam question generation, and STEM document classification. The study also introduces a suite of open-source Wikimedia MathEL tools, including AnnoMathTeX, MathQA, and PhysWikiQuiz, designed to advance Mathematical Information Retrieval and support innovative applications in academic and educational contexts.

Linked Lexical Knowledge Bases written by Iryna Gurevych and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-01 with Computers categories.

This book conveys the fundamentals of Linked Lexical Knowledge Bases (LLKB) and sheds light on their different aspects from various perspectives, focusing on their construction and use in natural language processing (NLP). It characterizes a wide range of both expert-based and collaboratively constructed lexical knowledge bases. Only basic familiarity with NLP is required and this book has been written for both students and researchers in NLP and related fields who are interested in knowledge-based approaches to language analysis and their applications. Lexical Knowledge Bases (LKBs) are indispensable in many areas of natural language processing, as they encode human knowledge of language in machine readable form, and as such, they are required as a reference when machines attempt to interpret natural language in accordance with human perception. In recent years, numerous research efforts have led to the insight that to make the best use of available knowledge, the orchestrated exploitation of different LKBs is necessary. This allows us to not only extend the range of covered words and senses, but also gives us the opportunity to obtain a richer knowledge representation when a particular meaning of a word is covered in more than one resource. Examples where such an orchestrated usage of LKBs proved beneficial include word sense disambiguation, semantic role labeling, semantic parsing, and text classification. This book presents different kinds of automatic, manual, and collaborative linkings between LKBs. A special chapter is devoted to the linking algorithms employing text-based, graph-based, and joint modeling methods. Following this, it presents a set of higher-level NLP tasks and algorithms, effectively utilizing the knowledge in LLKBs. Among them, you will find advanced methods, e.g., distant supervision, or continuous vector space models of knowledge bases (KB), that have become widely used at the time of this book's writing. Finally, multilingual applications of LLKB's, such as cross-lingual semantic relatedness and computer-aided translation are discussed, as well as tools and interfaces for exploring LLKBs, followed by conclusions and future research directions.

Multi Source Multilingual Information Extraction And Summarization written by Thierry Poibeau and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-14 with Computers categories.

Information extraction (IE) and text summarization (TS) are powerful technologies for finding relevant pieces of information in text and presenting them to the user in condensed form. The ongoing information explosion makes IE and TS critical for successful functioning within the information society. These technologies face particular challenges due to the inherent multi-source nature of the information explosion. The technologies must now handle not isolated texts or individual narratives, but rather large-scale repositories and streams---in general, in multiple languages---containing a multiplicity of perspectives, opinions, or commentaries on particular topics, entities or events. There is thus a need to adapt existing techniques and develop new ones to deal with these challenges. This volume contains a selection of papers that present a variety of methodologies for content identification and extraction, as well as for content fusion and regeneration. The chapters cover various aspects of the challenges, depending on the nature of the information sought---names vs. events,--- and the nature of the sources---news streams vs. image captions vs. scientific research papers, etc. This volume aims to offer a broad and representative sample of studies from this very active research field.
