Content on the web is predominantly written in English, making it inaccessible to those who only speak other languages. Knowledge graphs can store multilingual information, facilitate the creation of multilingual applications, and make content accessible to multiple language communities. This book, Multilinguality in Knowledge Graphs, presents studies which assess and improve the state of labels and languages in knowledge graphs and the application of multilingual information. The author proposes ways of using multilingual knowledge graphs to reduce the gaps in coverage between languages, and the book explores the current state of language distribution in knowledge graphs by developing a framework based on existing standards, frameworks, and guidelines to measure label and language distribution in knowledge graphs. Applying this framework to a dataset representing the web of data, and to Wikidata, both a lack of labeling on the web and a bias towards a small set of languages were found. The book explores how a knowledge of labels and languages can be used in the domain of answering questions, and demonstrates how the framework can be applied to the task of ranking and selecting knowledge graphs for a set of user questions. Transliteration and translation of knowledge graph labels and aliases are also covered, as is the automatic classification of labels into one or the other to train a model for each task. The book provides a wide range of information on working with data and knowledge graphs in less-resourced languages.

Knowledge Graphs written by Aidan Hogan and has been published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-08 with Computers categories.

This book provides a comprehensive and accessible introduction to knowledge graphs, which have recently garnered notable attention from both industry and academia. Knowledge graphs are founded on the principle of applying a graph-based abstraction to data, and are now broadly deployed in scenarios that require integrating and extracting value from multiple, diverse sources of data at large scale. The book defines knowledge graphs and provides a high-level overview of how they are used. It presents and contrasts popular graph models that are commonly used to represent data as graphs, and the languages by which they can be queried before describing how the resulting data graph can be enhanced with notions of schema, identity, and context. The book discusses how ontologies and rules can be used to encode knowledge as well as how inductive techniques—based on statistics, graph analytics, machine learning, etc.—can be used to encode and extract knowledge. It covers techniques for the creation, enrichment, assessment, and refinement of knowledge graphs and surveys recent open and enterprise knowledge graphs and the industries or applications within which they have been most widely adopted. The book closes by discussing the current limitations and future directions along which knowledge graphs are likely to evolve. This book is aimed at students, researchers, and practitioners who wish to learn more about knowledge graphs and how they facilitate extracting value from diverse data at large scale. To make the book accessible for newcomers, running examples and graphical notation are used throughout. Formal definitions and extensive references are also provided for those who opt to delve more deeply into specific topics.

Event Analytics Across Languages And Communities written by Ivana Marenzi and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-09-19 with Computers categories.

This open access book presents interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research results fostering event analytics across languages and communities. It is based on the CLEOPATRA International Training Network, which explored how we analyze and understand the major events that influence and shape our lives and societies, and how they unfold online. This analysis was achieved through various case studies, the development of novel methodologies in fields such as data mining and natural language processing, and the creation of new event-centric datasets aggregated in the Open Event Knowledge Graph (OEKG), a multilingual event-centric knowledge graph that contains more than 1 million events in 15 languages. The book is divided into three parts, focusing on different aspects of event analytics across languages and communities: Part I Event-centric Multilingual and Multimodal NLP Technologies presents five chapters reporting on recent developments in NLP technologies required to process multilingual information. Next, the four chapters of Part II: Event-centric Multilingual Knowledge Technologies discuss technologies integrating multilingual event-centric information in knowledge graphs and providing user access to such information. Finally, Part III: Event Analytics covers three selected aspects of multilingual event analytics, namely an analysis of event-centric news spreading barriers, claim detection in social media, and the narrativization of events as a means of presenting event data. This book is mainly written for researchers in academia and industry, who work on topics like natural language processing, large language models, multilingual information retrieval or event analytics.

Semantic Search For Novel Information written by M. Färber and has been published by IOS Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-18 with Computers categories.

In this book, new approaches are presented for detecting and extracting simultaneously relevant and novel information from unstructured text documents. A major contribution of these approaches is that the information already provided and the extracted information are modeled semantically. This leads to the following benefits: (a) ambiguities in the language can be resolved; (b) the exact information needs regarding relevance and novelty can be specified; and (c) knowledge graphs can be incorporated. More specifically, this book presents the following scientific contributions: 1. An assessment of the suitability of existing large knowledge graphs (namely, DBpedia, Freebase, OpenCyc, Wikidata, and YAGO) for the task of detecting novel information in text documents. 2. A description of an approach by which emerging entities that are missing in a knowledge graph are detected in a stream of text documents. 3. A suggestion for an approach to extracting novel, relevant, semantically-structured statements from text documents. The developed approaches are suitable for the recommendation of emerging entities and novel statements respectively, for the purpose of knowledge graph population, and for providing assistance to users requiring novel information, such as journalists and technology scouts.
