Nuclear Cardiology written by Cláudio Tinoco Mesquita and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-02-20 with Medical categories.
This book covers relevant concepts in nuclear cardiology, combining imaging techniques and clinical data to do so. Today, nuclear cardiology is a worldwide discipline connected to the broader field of cardiovascular imaging. The combination of clinical aspects (symptoms, medications, previous cardiac procedures), ancillary exams and nuclear images is key to decision-making in clinical practice. Thus, a book on this topic is essential to provide better outcomes for cardiology patients. The chapters cover a comprehensive range of topics in current cardiology practice, such as ambulatory patients, patients in emergency settings, patients after complex cardiac procedures, and patients during and after the use of cancer therapies that are potentially toxic for the heart (cardio-oncology). As such, multiple clinical scenarios are also presented: patients with suspected coronary disease, patients with heart failure of unknown origin, patients with acute chest pain in the emergency department, patients with suspected pulmonary embolism, patients with complications of the left ventricular assist device, etc. Furthermore, the book describes nuclear cardiology procedures and techniques, discusses the main clinical indications and scenarios for each procedure, presents new technological advances in the field (machine learning and artificial intelligence tools), and mentions the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Given its scope, the book offers a valuable guide and videos for various medical professionals, especially cardiologists and nuclear physicians.

Multi Modality Atherosclerosis Imaging And Diagnosis written by Luca Saba and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-13 with Medical categories.
Stroke is one of the leading causes of death in the world, resulting mostly from the sudden ruptures of atherosclerosis carotid plaques. Understanding why and how plaque develops and ruptures requires a multi-disciplinary approach such as radiology, biomedical engineering, medical physics, software engineering, hardware engineering, pathological and histological imaging. Multi-Modality Atherosclerosis Imaging, Diagnosis and Treatment presents a new dimension of understanding Atherosclerosis in 2D and 3D. This book presents work on plaque stress analysis in order to provide a general framework of computational modeling with atherosclerosis plaques. New algorithms based on 3D and 4D Ultrasound are presented to assess the atherosclerotic disease as well as very recent advances in plaque multimodality image fusion analysis. The goal of Multi-Modality Atherosclerosis Imaging, Diagnosis and Treatment is to fuse information obtained from different 3D medical image modalities, such as 3D US, CT and MRI, providing the medical doctor with some sort of augmented reality information about the atherosclerotic plaque in order to improve the accuracy of the diagnosis. Analysis of the plaque dynamics along the cardiac cycle is also a valuable indicator for plaque instability assessment and therefore for risk stratification. 4D Ultrasound, a sequence of 3D reconstructions of the region of interest along the time, can be used for this dynamic analysis. Multimodality Image Fusion is a very appealing approach because it puts together the best characteristics of each modality, such as, the high temporal resolution of US and the high spatial resolutions of MRI and CT.

Coronary Oct written by Sridhar Kasturi and has been published by JP Medical Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-02 with Medical categories.
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a novel invasive imaging technique that produces high resolution intracoronary images. Its general principle of operation is similar to IVUS, however OCT uses infrared light, not ultrasound. In recent years, the need for more precise information regarding coronary artery disease to achieve optimal treatment has seen intravascular imaging becoming an area of primary importance in interventional cardiology. OCT in this area has grown and is spreading. It benefits both therapeutic and research purposes and is also proving able to fill gaps in conventional invasive coronary imaging (European Society of Cardiology). Presented in a case-based approach, this book features a plethora of Angio and OCT images with detailed descriptions and video files to provide a comprehensive understanding of the concept of intravascular OCT imaging while performing coronary interventional procedures. Authored by experts in the field, cases have been carefully chosen to illustrate the importance of OCT imaging in assessing plaque morphology, lesion length and diameter, and selection of an appropriate pre-PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) modification strategy. The importance of detecting medial edge dissections and stent malapposition to improve future DES (drug-eluting stent) implantation outcomes, is explained in depth. This comprehensive manual also emphasizes the usefulness of imaging in various complex high-risk subsets of imaging in addition to simple PCI, for example ISR, ST, bifurcation lesions, multivessel PCI, PCI of diffuse long lesions, plaque modification and PCI of calcified coronary arteries.
