The Fourier Transform Holography (FTH) in the range of soft X- rays is a fast growing research field supported by the development of Free Electron Lasers (FEL). In the conventional FTH with only one pinhole as reference, the signal intensity is very weak when it comes to measurements on a very short time scale. Fortunately, the high transverse coherence of the FEL- beam enables the creation of expanded reference structures leading to a high signal intensity in a short exposure time. In this thesis two expanded reference structures are investigated, the multiple and the extended reference structure. The former reference structure is a combination of many separate pinholes, whereas the latter one can have any shape in combination with at least one corner. As a representative for the multiple reference structure the Uniformly Redundant Array and for the extended reference structure the HERALDO-Pattern, standing for Fourier Transform Holography with Extended Reference by Autocorrelation Linear Differential Operation, are introduced. Both reference patterns are promising candidates for future soft X-ray FTH-experiments, especially for femtosecond time resolved imaging.

Structural Dynamics With X Ray And Electron Scattering written by Kasra Amini and has been published by Royal Society of Chemistry this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-12-20 with Science categories.
Since the early 20th century, X-ray and electron scattering has provided a powerful means by which the location of atoms can be identified in gas-phase molecules and condensed matter with sub-atomic spatial resolution. Scattering techniques can also provide valuable observables of the fundamental properties of electrons in matter such as an electron’s spin and its energy. In recent years, significant technological developments in both X-ray and electron scattering have paved the way to time-resolved analogues capable of capturing real-time snapshots of transient structures undergoing a photochemical reaction. Structural Dynamics with X-ray and Electron Scattering is a two-part book that firstly introduces the fundamental background to scattering theory and photochemical phenomena of interest. The second part discusses the latest advances and research results from the application of ultrafast scattering techniques to imaging the structure and dynamics of gas-phase molecules and condensed matter. This book aims to provide a unifying platform for X-ray and electron scattering.

This book provides fundamental knowledge in the fields of attosecond science and free electron lasers, based on the insight that the further development of both disciplines can greatly benefit from mutual exposure and interaction between the two communities. With respect to the interaction of high intensity lasers with matter, it covers ultrafast lasers, high-harmonic generation, attosecond pulse generation and characterization. Other chapters review strong-field physics, free electron lasers and experimental instrumentation. Written in an easy accessible style, the book is aimed at graduate and postgraduate students so as to support the scientific training of early stage researchers in this emerging field. Special emphasis is placed on the practical approach of building experiments, allowing young researchers to develop a wide range of scientific skills in order to accelerate the development of spectroscopic techniques and their implementation in scientific experiments. The editors are managers of a research network devoted to the education of young scientists, and this book idea is based on a summer school organized by the ATTOFEL network.

Linear And Chiral Dichroism In The Electron Microscope written by Peter Schattschneider and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-03-01 with Science categories.
This book describes energy loss magnetic chiral dichroism (EMCD), a phenomenon in energy loss spectroscopy discovered in 2006. EMCD is the equivalent of XMCD but is based on fast probe electrons in the electron microscope. A spatial resolution of 2 nm has been demonstrated, and the lattice-resolved mapping of atomic spins appears feasible. EMCD is, thus, a promising technique for magnetic studies on the nanometer and sub-nanometer scale, providing the technical and logistic advantages of electron microscopy, such as in situ chemical and structural information, easy access, and low cost.

Optical Holography written by Robert Collier and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-11 with Photography categories.
Optical Holography deals with the use of optical holography to solve technical problems, with emphasis on the properties of holograms formed with visible light. Topics covered include the Fourier transform, propagation and diffraction, pulsed-laser holography, and optical systems with spherical lenses. A geometric analysis of point-source holograms is also presented, and holograms and hologram spatial filters formed with spatially modulated reference waves are described. This book is comprised of 20 chapters and begins with an introduction to concepts that are basic to understanding holography, from interference patterns and diffraction to hologram formation, basic holography equations, and partial coherence. The next chapter focuses on early developments in holography, paying particular attention to Bragg's X-ray microscope, X-ray holography, and the beginnings of optical holography. The discussion then turns to light sources for hologram formation; analysis of plane holograms; diffraction from volume holograms; and real-image applications of holographic methods. The remaining chapters explore holographic interferometry, color holography, and computer-generated holograms. The final chapter deals with hologram replication, television transmission of holograms, and formation of holograms using spatially incoherent subject light. This monograph will be a useful resource for electron microscopists, electrical engineers, opticists, physicists, chemists, and others interested in optical holography.
