Wer in Deutschland in seiner Freizeit, auf der Arbeit oder zu Verteidigungszwecken auf legale Weise ein Messer bei sich tragen möchte, ist durch das Waffengesetz strengen Vorgaben unterworfen. Denn aus Sicht des Verwenders soll es sich verdeckt tragen lassen, um kein Aufsehen zu erregen. Bei Bedarf soll es sich aber möglichst leicht ziehen lassen. Und es soll groß und stabil genug sein, um Brennholz spalten, ein Seil durchschneiden oder schlimmstenfalls sich auch damit verteidigen zu können. Dazu wäre ein einhändig zu öffnendes, feststellbares Klappmesser ideal. Leider ist jedoch genau dies ein Gegenstand, den zu führen das Gesetz den Menschen verbietet. Allerdings erlaubt der Gesetzgeber das Tragen von mindestens ebenso gut geeigneten Modellen: Feststehende Messer bis zu einer Klingenlänge von 12 Zentimetern. Dieses Buch führt seine Leser in die vielfältigen verdeckten Trageweisen für feststehende Messer ein. Dabei zeigt es althergebrachte Methoden ebenso wie neue Tragesysteme, die genau zu diesem Zweck entworfen wurden. Insbesondere wendet es sich aber auch an Bastler, die mit wenigen Handgriffen bestehende Scheiden umbauen oder ausgefallene Tragesysteme improvisieren können. Dafür ist nicht mehr handwerkliches Geschick erforderlich, als nötig ist, um ein Stück Schnur abzuschneiden oder einen Knopf anzunähen. Mithilfe der beschriebenen Methoden lässt sich in nahezu jeder Lebenslage ein feststehendes Messer mitführen.
