A work of graphic nonfiction exploring the powerful, often toxic relationship between people and cars. Using the comic book format, this book vehemently dispels the notion that traffic accidents are inevitable and/or acceptable on any level, insisting that drivers own their responsibility, and consider the consequences of careless and dangerous behavior. It also addresses such timely issues as the use of cars as weapons of mass murder in places like Charlottesville, VA.

The Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie - is a work of detective fiction by Agatha Christie, first published in the US by Dodd, Mead amp; Co in March 1923, and in the UK by The Bodley Head in May of the same year. It is the second novel featuring Hercule Poirot and Arthur Hastings. The UK edition retailed at seven shillings and sixpence (7/6), and the US edition at $1.75. The story takes place in northern France, giving Poirot a hostile competitor from the Paris Sûreté. Poirot's long memory for past or similar crimes proves useful in resolving the crimes. The book is notable for a subplot in which Hastings falls in love, a development "greatly desired on Agatha's part... parcelling off Hastings to wedded bliss in the Argentine." Plot summary: Hercule Poirot and Captain Hastings travel to Merlinville-sur-Mer, France, to meet Paul Renauld, who has requested their help. When they arrive, local police greet them with the news that Renauld was found dead that morning, stabbed in the back with a knife and left in a newly dug grave adjacent to a local golf course. His wife, Eloise Renauld, claims masked men broke into the villa at 2 am, tied her up, and took her husband away with them. Upon inspecting his body, Eloise collapses with grief at seeing her dead husband. Monsieur Giraud of the Sûreté leads the police investigation, and resents Poirot's involvement. Poirot notes four key facts about the case: a piece of lead piping is found near the body; only three female servants were in the villa as both Renauld's son Jack and his chauffeur had been sent away; an unknown person visited the day before; and Renauld's immediate neighbour, Madame Daubreuil, had placed 200,000 francs into her bank account over recent weeks. When Renauld's secretary, Gabriel Stonor, returns from England, he suggests blackmail, as his employer's past is a complete mystery prior to his career in South America. Meanwhile, Hastings unexpectedly encounters a young woman he had met on the train, known only as "Cinderella." She asks to see the crime scene and then disappears with the murder weapon. Poirot discovers that the case is nearly identical to one from 22 years ago, in which a man called Georges Conneau and his lover, Madame Beroldy, conspired to kill Madame Beroldy's husband. Poirot travels to Paris to discover more about the Conneau murder. On returning, Poirot learns that the body of a tramp has been found, stabbed through the heart with the murder weapon. An examination shows that he died before Renauld's murder from an epileptic seizure and was stabbed later.

Felony Murder written by Guyora Binder and has been published by Stanford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-05-09 with Law categories.

The felony murder doctrine is one of the most widely criticized features of American criminal law. Legal scholars almost unanimously condemn it as irrational, concluding that it imposes punishment without fault and presumes guilt without proof. Despite this, the law persists in almost every U.S. jurisdiction. Felony Murder is the first book on this controversial legal doctrine. It shows that felony murder liability rests on a simple and powerful idea: that the guilt incurred in attacking or endangering others depends on one's reasons for doing so. Inflicting harm is wrong, and doing so for a bad motive—such as robbery, rape, or arson—aggravates that wrong. In presenting this idea, Guyora Binder criticizes prevailing academic theories of criminal intent for trying to purge criminal law of moral judgment. Ultimately, Binder shows that felony murder law has been and should remain limited by its justifying aims.

THIS EXCLUSIVE MURDER MYSTERY PARTY KIT WILL WORK FOR GROUPS OF SIX TO 50. Simply take apart this 8.5" X 11" book and you'll have what you need to orchestrate the mystery. Perfect for your next golf outing! Can you solve "Murder is Par for the Course"? Here's the scenario: It was the match of the century for the prestigious Porous Pines Country Club. For the past decade, professional champion Holin Wunn had dominated the tournaments throughout the region. His prowess as a pro resulted in awards, accolades and, of course, a lifestyle that most golfers only dream of. Wunn's tenacity on the tee and rigor in the rough were unchallenged by any man - but not so when it came to women. For the past year, Birdie Bigelow, the undisputed women's regional champ had repeatedly issued a challenge to the legendary Wunn. She would (so she proclaimed) in match play, demonstrate that Wunn's stance to keep women out of men's tournaments was more the result of fear than fact. "Golf is more brains than brawn," she told the press. "He might drive the ball farther, but no one can size up a course like I can." With pressure from all sides, Wunn finally agreed to the head-to-head confrontation. The date of the match was set. Reporters gushed over a legendary battle of the sexes to settle the matter once and for all. It would be 18 holes of golf that would go down in the annals of the game. After 17 holes, Wunn was 1-up. That's when it became dead-even. For as Wunn teed up for the 18th hole, a deathly silence fell over the crowd. Just as his driver reached the zenith of its arc, Wunn released the club. His eyes rolled back in their sockets and he collapsed. All efforts to revive him failed. At first, observers feared a hidden medical problem had surfaced, yet police thought otherwise. They confirmed that the evidence pointed toward homicide. Who would dare club to death the gender controversy with such irony? Why would they even putter around with such matters? Now, it would be necessary to trap a killer with a stroke of investigative genius. The Suspects . . . Birdie Bigelow - Professional Golfer. She'd been waiting a long time for this match. Would she really want it to end this way? Toten Klubs - Wunn's Caddie. Surely the rumors couldn't be true. Could Klubs and Wunn really be splitting? Carrie Bagshot - Bigelow's Caddie. She told everyone that Birdie would win this event. Why did she dislike Wunn so much? Nemo Brandt - CEO of Sadasi Sports Gear. For the past five years, the world-famous Sadasi "Sheesh" has been a fixture on all of Wunn's golf gear. What would happen when his promotional contract expires? Sandy Trapini - President of Porous Pines Golf Club. Wunn wasn't in her good graces. Why would she feel this way? Macon Green - Greenskeeper. Wunn complained about the condition of the course. How could he develop a stellar reputation if Wunn kept saying rotten things about his ability? ------------------------------------------------- This complete Murder Mystery Party Kit from Mysteries on the Net contains everything you need to host your own event at home or in a large facility. YOU WON'T NEED TO COPY ANYTHING for a party of up to 50 people. The kit includes: - Complete instructions on how to run your party, - Facilitator instructions, - 6 suspect roles and role player instructions, - 12 invitations to your party, - 12 copies of "The Scorecard" newsletter, - 12 copies of a letter from the Sheriff, - 24 individual clues, - 6 copies each of the Investigative Report, - 6 copies of Holin Wunn's and Birdie Bigelow's scorecards, - 6 copies of the answer sheets to be completed by your investigative teams, - And, of course, the solution to the case. "Here is a remarkably good detective story." — The New York Times Book Review "For God's sake, come!" implores the letter to Hercule Poirot from Paul Renauld. A wealthy English financier living in France, Renauld hints at being in possession of a deadly secret. The Belgian sleuth — accompanied by Captain Hastings, his friend from The Mysterious Affair at Styles — rushes to answer the call but arrives too late. Stabbed in the back, Poirot's would-be client lies in a shallow grave on the golf course alongside his estate. Renauld's wife, found bound and gagged in her bedroom, identifies a pair of masked intruders as the likeliest culprits. But the thugs prove untraceable even as the roster of suspects expands. The instant dislike formed between Poirot and Monsieur Giraud of the Paris Sûreté further intensifies the investigation, which becomes a competition between their radically different approaches to crime detection. Both are incapable of solving the murder until the discovery of a second corpse, slain in the same manner as the first, provides fresh clues. Agatha Christie's lively and stylish whodunit offers mystery lovers an abundance of twists and turns as well as a dash of romance.

"Who, with the love of God upholding him, could find the choice of miracles or murder hard to make?" A Course in Miracles, a self-study curriculum for attaining lasting inner peace, invites the 'student' to look at the unconscious cycle of attack and defense that almost all of us are engaged in daily. Not only does A Course in Miracles show us what we do and how we go about it, but also why. This offers us the opportunity to shift the purpose of our lives from murder to miracles, that is, from condemnation to love, through complete and unconditional forgiveness, the 'royal road' to lasting inner peace. This guidebook takes the reader by the hand in understanding how important concepts such as love, prayer, death, life, Christ, ego, and forgiveness are redefined in this spiritual curriculum. It is hoped that this supports students of A Course in Miracles to more quickly grasp the essence of its message, and to increasingly apply it in their everyday lives, speeding up their spiritual journey. About "Miracles or Murder," from the online discussion group that inspired it: "Many people who want to learn more about the Course before investing time in it, become discouraged by the density and abstractness of the Text and choose to pass on it altogether. We need a book like this to give folks a less jolting introduction and to help them understand the new meanings to old concepts - prepping for the voyage, so to speak, - before diving into the Text and Workbook. I see this as a very, very useful - and much needed - resource." -- Patrick Madden M.A., LEP
