MuVi5 is the fifth edition of Visual Music dedicated videos – following upon MuVi (Granada, 2007), MuVi2 (Granada, 2009), MuVi3 (Almeria, 2012) and MuVi4 (Alcalá la Real, Jaén, 2015) – an event that completes the Fifth International Conference Sinestesia: Ciencia y Arte, which took place at Alcalá la Real, Jaén (Convento Capuchinos) and the “Victoria Eugenia” Conservatory of Music of Granada, in Spain, from May 18th to 21th.This is a collection of kinetic works in visual, audiovisual, or interactive fields, from artists, musicians, designers, and performers, designed on music. Alongside the videos from professionals are also works produced in the academic field, presented by professors, or directly by university students, academies of fine arts, and music conservatories. The catalog contains an extensive selection of photographs and videos submitted by participants whose home countries are European, including England (London), Hungary (Pécs), Ireland (Dublin), Italy (Milan), Poland (Warsaw), and Spain (Granada, Girona), as well as outside of Europe, including China (Hong Kong), New Zealand (Auckland), and the USA (Alabama, Massachusetts, Oregon). MuVi6 is the sixth edition of the publication dedicated to Visual Music – following MuVi (Granada, 2007), MuVi2 (Granada, 2009), MuVi3 (Almería, 2012), MuVi4 (Alcalá la Real, Jaén, 2015), MuVi5 (Granada and Alcalá la Real, Jaén, 2018) – an event integrated with the VII International Congress: “Synesthesia: Science and Art”, held from the 26th to 29th of October 2022, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada and at the Convento de Capuchinos in Alcalá la Real (Jaén), Spain. This event confirms its primary objective of providing perceivable, aesthetic (and synaesthetic) feedback on the theoretical contents addressed at the conference through lectures, debates and posters, proving over time, in the editions that have followed, to be capable of stimulating debate This particular edition, in line with the conference, aims to underline the challenge between the digital and the material: this is the interpretative key that we asked of both the authors of the preliminary essays anticipating the collection of works, and the authors of the video projects. Hybridisation was expressed on several levels, which can be summarised in two main trends: in the sources, where nature and the kinematics of the elements, e.g. liquids or gasses, are a source of inspiration; or in the hybridisation of techniques where the material and the digital alternate. Each edition surprises us with the richness of the productions, with increasingly complex compositional and technical solutions, undoubtedly facilitated by the evolution of audio/video software and visual programming languages that facilitate new aesthetic experiments. The sound/visual relationships are therefore as much the result of a perceptual analysis as of an algorithmic application that can escape the control of the perceivable

By 1907, Mr. Granville Taylor Woods was the first Black American who was granted 49 patents and was titled the "Black Edison" in news articles from the 1900s. Mr. Woods was a pioneer in power distribution, telegraph communication, and safety for the railway industry. Granville Taylor Woods sold eight patents to the General Electrical Company, Harry Ward Leonard, Westinghouse Air Brake Company, and various individuals or investment partners. The ultimate goal of this book is to provide standard concepts in presenting accurate interpretations of patents granted to Granville Taylor Woods. This book is not intended to dispute, dishonor, or argue for or against a particular accomplishment by Granville Taylor Woods. Rather, the author aims to furnish a concise way to present the material in laymans terms. To put something in laymans terms is to describe a complex or technical issue using words and terms that an average individual may comprehend the basic concept. The material is divided into five (5) sections related to Mr. Woods: Introduction, birthplace of Granville Woods, list of patents, list of patent assignments, and photos with a description of each patent granted to Mr. Woods. The introduction provides the purpose of the book, the authors approach, and fundamental patent terminology. Section two contains the most reliable source of Granville Woods birthplace and his whereabouts as a young adult and teenager. This source of information is extracted through the United States Federal Census that is closest to Mr. Woods birth. Section three is concentrated on a brief explanation that verifies the number of patents granted to Granville Taylor Woods in addition to patents he assigned to individuals, partners, or companies. Section four is centered on patent assignments by Granville Taylor Woods since the majority of patents were assigned to individuals, partners, or companies. Section five is the focal point of this book because the original images of Mr. Woods patent drawings will be displayed, both front and back. This is the most exciting part of the book!

This book aims to present a summary of research approaches developed, and even current, on two of the themes that since the 1980s aroused my interest, as an artist with synaesthesia, engraving and stamping systems, painter and video artist, but mainly as a researcher teacher at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada from the 2007/08 academic year, applying the concept of synaesthesia and ideaetheia in my teaching, to enhance creative abilities (teaching innovation projects and experimental workshops), as well as the survey path about possible synesthetes among university students, started in the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the University of Granada in 2006, Faculty of Psychology of the University of Granada, and in other Educational Centers and Universities of Spain (they are still being carried out at present) . Research projects whose approaches have been revised, sometimes continuously redesigned. The results and conclusions have been disseminated in specialized editions and also in other countries, since 2005, through articles and participation in international congresses, which have aroused interest in other national and international teachers. Reason why I also decided to publish this book, so that it serves as support to other educational researchers who want to apply the resources created for research on synesthesia, and innovative educational methods The work was presented in the year 2017 in the University of Granada for the defense of my position of University Holder.
