Algorithms are the lifeblood of computer science. They are the machines that proofs build and the music that programs play. Their history is as old as mathematics itself. This textbook is a wide-ranging, idiosyncratic treatise on the design and analysis of algorithms, covering several fundamental techniques, with an emphasis on intuition and the problem-solving process. The book includes important classical examples, hundreds of battle-tested exercises, far too many historical digressions, and exaclty four typos. Jeff Erickson is a computer science professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; this book is based on algorithms classes he has taught there since 1998.

Introduction To Algorithms Third Edition written by Thomas H. Cormen and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-07-31 with Computers categories.

The latest edition of the essential text and professional reference, with substantial new material on such topics as vEB trees, multithreaded algorithms, dynamic programming, and edge-based flow. Some books on algorithms are rigorous but incomplete; others cover masses of material but lack rigor. Introduction to Algorithms uniquely combines rigor and comprehensiveness. The book covers a broad range of algorithms in depth, yet makes their design and analysis accessible to all levels of readers. Each chapter is relatively self-contained and can be used as a unit of study. The algorithms are described in English and in a pseudocode designed to be readable by anyone who has done a little programming. The explanations have been kept elementary without sacrificing depth of coverage or mathematical rigor. The first edition became a widely used text in universities worldwide as well as the standard reference for professionals. The second edition featured new chapters on the role of algorithms, probabilistic analysis and randomized algorithms, and linear programming. The third edition has been revised and updated throughout. It includes two completely new chapters, on van Emde Boas trees and multithreaded algorithms, substantial additions to the chapter on recurrence (now called “Divide-and-Conquer”), and an appendix on matrices. It features improved treatment of dynamic programming and greedy algorithms and a new notion of edge-based flow in the material on flow networks. Many exercises and problems have been added for this edition. The international paperback edition is no longer available; the hardcover is available worldwide.

My Algorithms Rubik's Cube Notebook has been designed by a 14-year old boy, to keep track of his cube collection, solves, algorithms and competitions results. This is what he says,"Over a year ago I got my first Rubik's cube and had no idea how to solve it. When I watched someone solving it, I thought it was pure magic and the person was a magician. Then I learned there are algorithms for solving the cube. You must simply learn them and follow a series of steps. Sounds easy? Yeah!It takes many solves to learn to do it. It takes many algorithms to memorize. That's why I designed this notebook. I wanted to have all my "Rubik's stuff" handy and see the progress." This is not a book with the step by step instructions how to solve the Rubik's cube. This is a blank notebook to write in. ABOUT THE NOTEBOOK 120 pages with sections on algorithms, competition results, personal goals and solves. A couple of blank lined pages for speedcuber's important notes. Perfect size: 6" x 9" (15,24 cm x 22,86 cm) Soft matte cover A nice present for a cuber and Rubik's cube addict. Check our author page for more books and regular updates.

Algorithms And Subjectivity written by Eran Fisher and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-26 with Computers categories.

In this thought-provoking volume, Eran Fisher interrogates the relationship between algorithms as epistemic devices and modern notions of subjectivity. Over the past few decades, as the instrumentalization of algorithms has created knowledge that informs our decisions, preferences, tastes, and actions, and the very sense of who we are, they have also undercut, and arguably undermined, the Enlightenment-era ideal of the subject. Fisher finds that as algorithms enable a reality in which knowledge is created by circumventing the participation of the self, they also challenge contemporary notions of subjectivity. Through four case-studies, this book provides an empirical and theoretical investigation of this transformation, analyzing how algorithmic knowledge differs from the ideas of critical knowledge which emerged during modernity – Fisher argues that algorithms create a new type of knowledge, which in turn changes our fundamental sense of self and our concept of subjectivity. This book will make a timely contribution to the social study of algorithms and will prove especially valuable for scholars working at the intersections of media and communication studies, internet studies, information studies, the sociology of technology, the philosophy of technology, and science and technology studies.

Mm Optimization Algorithms written by Kenneth Lange and has been published by SIAM this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-07-11 with Mathematics categories.

MM Optimization Algorithms?offers an overview of the MM principle, a device for deriving optimization algorithms satisfying the ascent or descent property. These algorithms can separate the variables of a problem, avoid large matrix inversions, linearize a problem, restore symmetry, deal with equality and inequality constraints gracefully, and turn a nondifferentiable problem into a smooth problem.? The author presents the first extended treatment of MM algorithms, which are ideal for high-dimensional optimization problems in data mining, imaging, and genomics; derives numerous algorithms from a broad diversity of application areas, with a particular emphasis on statistics, biology, and data mining; and summarizes a large amount of literature that has not reached book form before.?
