He is a descendant of Jacob Roth (b. 1618) and Anna Maria Schifflin Roth through their descendant Matthias Roth. Matthias, son of Johan Jacob Roth Jr. and Maria Barbara Weber Roth, was born at sea on 8 November 1717 on the voyage from Germany to America. They landed in Philadelphia and there is no " ... definite information as to where his parents settled after their arrival at Philadelphia ... "--P. 45. Matthias " ... married Anna Elizabeth Beyer, daughter of John Philip Beyer and Maria Elizabeth Beyer, on Candlemas, 1741 ... "--P. 45-46. Matthias died 13 March 1795 and was probably buried at Amity, Pennsylvania "Anna Elizabeth Roth (widow of Matthias) died about 14 November 1809."--P. 55. The Roth surname was later changed to "Rhoads". Ancestors and relatives lived in Germany, Pennsylvania, New York, Texas and elsewhere.
