It's 1984 in the west of Ireland, and two sisters have unwittingly betrayed each other. My Heart Went Walking follows Una, who gives up everything to protect the people she loves, and her sister Ellie, who is left behind to pick up the pieces. With the prose of Sue Monk Kidd mixed with the dialogue of Maeve Binchy, this is a captivating, emotional, and uplifting debut novel set against the sweeping landscape of rural Ireland and Dublin City in the 1980s. Una runs away from her home and family in Donegal to start over in the “big smoke” of Dublin City, leaving a bereft family looking for answers. A year later, wondering if it might be safe to go back, she comes face-to-face with the heartbreaking reality that if she does so, she'll ruin her sister Ellie's newfound happiness. Una stays away and processes her pain alone while building a new life for herself with help from an unexpected source … until tragedy strikes and she must go home, where the secrets she has fought so hard to keep could destroy all their lives. My Heart Went Walking is a story of heartbreak and difficult choices, of tragedy and romance, of giving up everything to save your loved ones and trying to figure out your new path in life. With its evocative and witty prose, Sally Hanan will take you back to the '80s and pull you in to the Irish approach to life — that of grit and laughter — and leave you with an overriding reminder of the possibility of hope and restoration in all things.

The Tree provides them shelter, kindling, medicine – and a place of legends, for there are ghosts within the trees who snatch children and the dying. Lillah has come of age and is now ready to leave her community and walk the tree for five years, learning all Botanica has to teach her. Before setting off, Lillah is asked by the dying mother of a young boy to take him with her. In a country where a plague killed half the population, Morace will otherwise be killed in case he has the same disease. But can Lillah keep the boy’s secret, or will she have to resort to breaking the oldest taboo on Botanica? Another astonishingly imaginative novel from the acclaimed author of Slights. Jock Serong, Mark Smith and Nail A. White posed the question: what would happen if a group of Australia's finest writers were invited to let their minds go walking through the Paul Kelly songbook? The writers responded with tales of forbidden love, with the ghosts that inhibit St Kilda and the 'special treatment' of the Noongar people; with the dumb things they did when they crossed the Nullarbor, and how a simple song could bind a father and daughter forever. Contributors include well-known musicians, award-winning novelists, crime writers, children's author and more including Robbie Arnott, Alice Bishop, Zoe Bradley, Sam Carmody, Jake Cashion, Lorin Clarke, Claire G. Coleman, Sarah Drummond, Laura Elvery, Kirsten Krauth, Julia Lawrinson, Matt Neal, Bram Presser, MIrandi Riwoe, Tim Rogers, Angela Savage, Jock Serong, Mark Smith, Neil A. White, Gina Williams and Michelle Wright. Like Paul Kelly's song, these stories will take you anywhere, and everywhere, and they will keep coming back to you like a cork on the ride.

Renjian cihua is a masterpiece of literary criticism written by Wang Guowei (1877–1927), a scholar of the Chinese classics who lived during the late Qing and early Republican periods. Since its publication in 1908 and 1909, it has been one of the most influential academic works in China. Elegantly written, Wang’s set of "remarks on ci poetry" (cihua) retains a traditional Chinese impressionistic critical approach, and can present difficulties to the common reader. This set of lectures by Florence Chia-ying Yeh explains the text to readers, making accessible Wang’s famous theory of jingjie ("aesthetic realm" or "artistic conception"), his views on how the ci differs from the shi genre of Chinese poetry, and his critical judgments of various famous ci poets from the Tang, Five Dynasties, and Song periods. The lectures are presented here in an English translation by Maija Bell Samei.
