What if your hobby turned into attending pastry school in Paris—and a surprising career change? For Susan Holding, that’s exactly what happened. Susan was a nurse turned road warrior teaching medical professionals to use computer software. But on the weekends, her hobby was baking—usually while dreaming about mastering French pastry. While searching for a New England baking course, she mistakenly received information about Le Cordon Bleu’s pastry program in Paris. After careful consideration of the program and completing the application process, she was accepted, and off to Paris she went. Within a year she graduated with honors, left her nursing career, and opened her own bakery and cooking school, the Little French Bakery, in Wisconsin. The Little French Bakery Cookbook takes us through Susan’s stories of success and mishap during her days at pastry school in France. These charming stories are interwoven between one hundred recipes that she has mastered since her days at school. Readers will find recipes both savory and sweet, with delicious flavors that will take them on their own trip to the City of Light. Enjoy such recipes as: • Kitchen sink cookies • Tarte aux Pommes • Onion soup • Boeuf Bourguignon • Oven roasted brussels sprouts and cauliflower While French cuisine can seem intimidating, Susan provides equipment lists, and her own hints and tips to aid readers in becoming the master of their kitchen. Find step-by-step photos to create seemingly difficult pastries at home. Whether new to baking or comfortable in the kitchen, everyone will find something new in The Little French Bakery Cookbook. Embark on your own culinary adventure and taste the delights of Paris! Skyhorse Publishing, along with our Good Books and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of cookbooks, including books on juicing, grilling, baking, frying, home brewing and winemaking, slow cookers, and cast iron cooking. We’ve been successful with books on gluten-free cooking, vegetarian and vegan cooking, paleo, raw foods, and more. Our list includes French cooking, Swedish cooking, Austrian and German cooking, Cajun cooking, as well as books on jerky, canning and preserving, peanut butter, meatballs, oil and vinegar, bone broth, and more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

This “grandmother of all Mennonite cookbooks” brings a touch of Mennonite culture and hospitality to any home that relishes great cooking. Mary Emma Showalter compiled favorite recipes from hundreds of Mennonite women across the United States and Canada noted for their excellent cooking into this book of more than 1,100 recipes. These tantalizing dishes came to this country directly from Dutch, German, Swiss, and Russian kitchens. Old-fashioned cooking and traditional Mennonite values are woven throughout. Original directions like “a dab of cinnamon” or “ten blubs of molasses” have been standardized to help you get the same wonderful individuality and flavor. Showalter introduces each chapter with her own nostalgic recollection of cookery in grandma’s day—the pie shelf in the springhouse, outdoor bake ovens, the summer kitchen. First published in 1950, Mennonite Community Cookbook has become a treasured part of many family kitchens. Parents who received the cookbook when they were first married make sure to purchase it for their own sons and daughters when they wed. This 65th anniversary edition adds all new color photography and a brief history while retaining all of the original recipes and traditional Fraktur drawings. It is the Thirty-first Century, the world as we knew it is gone and a new world has emerged out of the ashes. This new world is called Eden and it is one of the members of fourteen planets called The Federation. These planets all have one thing in common. They all seek a perfect world. There are no monetary system, no boundaries, no flags and no governments. Pollution is a thing of the past and all but two of the ailments have been eliminated. A perfect world is finally within reach. Then three unexpected events occur. First, a new planet with life forms in the first stages of evolution is discovered. The problem is the planet has been knocked out of its orbit around its sun. The Federation has no choice but to try and save as many as possible. Because of their warring nature, they are split up among the fourteen planets. Second, after an earthquake on Eden, a new unknown gas is discovered coming out of the mountain. Searching for the origin two mercenaries from the twentieth century are found alive. The gas had kept them in suspended animation. Third, Four spaceships carrying escaped convicts from another galaxy suddenly appears. These events could not only disrupt but could destroy all hope of a perfect world.
