“We Are the Murder Victims Who Lived” is a gritty and grimy memoir written in the first person, which tackles the surviving of sexual assault while offering hope on life after. It also glimpses into the struggles and shames of life lived during, and a reminiscence on the innocence of life led before. This book serves as a beacon of hope to survivors of sexual assault as well as a wake-up call for a society blinded by darkness. The book targets audiences of every age and gender and sexual orientation, presenting itself as a safe zone specifically for women, a comfort for those previously affected by sexual violence, assault, and abuse. It is also written for those who are trying to understand what has happened to their loved ones, navigating through the unknown. It is an education in the horrors of sexual assault, a spit in the face of the writer’s very own rapist. It paves its way as a testimony to the power of good people. It is an education in the phases that survivors of sexual assault face: denial, hate, hiding, shame, and fear, which then lends itself to hopefulness, unbounding love, and truth. It is a plea for people to listen, forcing us to look at the ways in which we view sex and relationships, and consider whether we will raise our very own sons from boys to men--or from boys to rapists.

Aside from the occasional controversy over "Official English" campaigns, language remains the blind spot in the debate over multiculturalism. Considering its status as a nation of non-English speaking aborigines and of immigrants with many languages, America exhibits a curious tunnel vision about cultural and literary forms that are not in English. How then have non-English speaking Americans written about their experiences in this country? And what can we learn-about America, immigration and ethnicity-from them? Arguing that multilingualism is perhaps the most important form of diversity, Multilingual America calls attention to-and seeks to correct-the linguistic parochialism that has defined American literary study. By bringing together essays on important works by, among others, Yiddish, Chinese American, German American, Italian American, Norwegian American, and Spanish American writers, Werner Sollors here presents a fuller view of multilingualism as a historical phenomenon and as an ongoing way of life. At a time when we are just beginning to understand the profound effects of language acquisition on the development of the brain, Multilingual America forces us to broaden what in fact constitutes American literature.

After the tragic murder of our oldest daughter by her husband, I was compelled to do something to help other victims of domestic violence. I have been forced to be an advocate against a horrible crime that I did not know existed. Not wanting my daughter's death to be in vain, I have had a God-driven force to tell our story and hopefully reach the law enforcement agencies to make them realize how horrible domestic violence is, and that they should take domestic violence calls seriously and as a crime, not just as a disturbance. My hope is to reach other victims and to help all communities understand that we can stop domestic violence if we work together. Shortly after our daughter's death, I realized that if I could tell our story and could get it published, I could help other families from going through the horrible senseless pain that our family has endured. Right away, the title came to me Not in Vain. I was not sure what God wanted me to do with it until I started reading my journal, my notes, and listening to my tape recordings of the events. It was at that time I realized that this man not only murdered our daughter; he almost killed my whole family. After years of separation and pain, our family did survive. Everything changed in May of 2004. Our lives changed forever.

Who I Am After All written by Jeff Ansell and has been published by FriesenPress this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Biography & Autobiography categories.

You may recognize Jeff Ansell’s voice from CHUM radio or his face from City-TV, but the behind-the-scenes tales of his life are even more fascinating than the stories he uncovered. In this unflinchingly honest and vulnerable memoir, Jeff reveals his investigative reporting escapades, from hunting Nazi war criminals living in Canada, to inciting the closure of an abusive nursing home, and even going undercover as a drug addict to expose medical fraud. He then steps over to the other side of the microphone to provide media and crisis training to thousands of people worldwide, including PG&E during the Erin Brockovich case and BP’s partner during the Deepwater Horizon disaster. He even became an instructor at Harvard Law School and lecturer at Harvard Business School, despite being a high school dropout. And that’s just scratching the surface. Jeff’s uncanny ability to meet celebrities leads to hilarious and heartwarming interactions (usually), and he recognizes the irony of being an on-air personality and keynotes speaker plagued with panic attacks. He opens up about how grieving changed his relationship to spirituality, and doesn’t pull any punches when guiding us through his tumultuous battle with illness. One thing is for sure—Jeff lived a full life, and this entertaining and inspirational memoir is proof of it.
