A teen idol of the 1950s who virtually invented the singer/songwriter/heartthrob combination that still tops pop music today, Paul Anka rocketed to fame with a slew of hits-from "Diana" to "Put Your Head on my Shoulder"-that earned him a place touring with the major stars of his era, including Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Holly. He wrote Holly's last hit, and just missed joining the rocker on his final, fatal plane flight. Anka also stepped in front of the camera in the teen beach-party movie era, scoring the movies and romancing their starlets, including Annette Funicello. When the British invasion made his fans swoon for a new style of music-and musician--Anka made sure he wasn't conquered. A rapier-canny businessman and image-builder who took his career into his own hands-just as he had from the very beginning, swiping his mother's car at fourteen to drive himself, underage, to his first gigs in Quebec-Anka toured the world until he could return home in triumph. A charter member of the Rat Pack, he wrote the theme music for The Tonight Show as well as his friend Frank Sinatra's anthem "My Way". By the 1970s, a multi-decade string of pop chart-toppers, including "Puppy Love" and "(You're) Having My Baby", cemented his status as an icon. My Way is bursting with rich, rollicking stories of the business and the people in Anka's life: Elizabeth Taylor, Dodi Fayed, Tom Jones, Michael Jackson, Adnan Khashoggi, Little Richard, Brooke Shields, Johnny Roselli, Sammy Davis, Jr., Brigitte Bardot, Barnum & Bailey Circus acrobats, and many more. Anka is forthcoming, funny and smart as a whip about the business he's been in for almost six decades. My Way moves from New York to Vegas, from the casino stage to backstages all over the world. It's the most entertaining autobiography of the year.

Does fear and insecurity keep you from looking at your bank account? Is your financial anxiety holding you captive? You don’t have to stress about money anymore. YOU can take back control. As a newly divorced single mom making $24,000 per year and facing down $77,000 in debt, Kumiko Love worried constantly about money. She saw what other moms had—vacations, birthday parties, a house full of furniture—and felt ashamed that she and her son lived in a small apartment and ate dinner on the floor. Worse, when her feelings began to exhaust her, she binge-shopped, reasoning that she’d feel better after a trip to the mall. On the day she needed to pay for a McDonald’s ice cream cone without her credit card, she had an epiphany: Money is not the problem. Self-Doubt is the problem. Shame is the problem. Guilt is the problem. Society’s expectations for her are the problem. She is the solution. Once she reversed the negative thinking patterns pushing her toward decisions that didn’t serve her values or goals, her financial plan wrote itself. Now, she’s not only living debt-free in her dream home, which she paid for in cash, but she has spread her teachings around the world and helped countless women envision better lives for themselves and their families. Now, building on the lessons she’s taught millions as the founder of The Budget Mom, she shares a step by step plan for taking control back over your financial life—regardless of your level of income or your credit card balance. Through stories from navigating divorce to helping clients thrive through recessions, depression, eviction, layoffs and so much more, you will learn foundational practices such as: How to use your emotions to your financial advantage, instead of letting them control you How to create a budget based on your real life, not a life of self-denial How to create a motivating debt pay-off plan that makes you excited about your future, instead of fearing it My Money My Way will give you the tools to align your emotional health with your financial health—to let go of deprivation and embrace desire. Love’s paradigm-shifting system will teach you how to honor your unique personal values, driving emotions, and particular needs so that you can stop worrying about money and start living a financially fulfilled life.

This book reflects on South African literature from the perspective of 2020. It emerges from Duncan Brown’s experiences of three decades of working in this field of writing and scholarship. It is a personal intellectual exploration and an engagement with the institutional history of literary studies in South Africa and elsewhere. Finding My Way also attempts to find more creative, engaging and intriguing modes of writing about literature and the humanities universally. It seeks to recover a sense of the imaginative, the literary, and the affective, not only as things to value in the literary texts we read but also as ways of understanding and reading texts, as ways of writing criticism—of registering how books make us feel, as well as how they make us think. Finding My Way is a powerful coming-of-age novel about Matt, a young man entering college who embarks on a profound journey of self-discovery. At the beginning of the story, Matt appears to have his life together: he’s starting his freshman year, has a girlfriend, and is excited about his future. However, things take a dramatic turn when Matt begins to develop romantic feelings for his college roommate, Jake. These feelings stir an internal conflict, forcing Matt to confront the reality that he is gay—something he has long suppressed. Matt struggles with his identity, torn between the life he thought he wanted and the one he's discovering for himself. After an intimate confession to Jake, the two begin a secret relationship. Matt is still dating Sarah, his high school girlfriend, but soon realizes he can no longer live a double life. The heart-wrenching breakup with Sarah leaves him shattered, yet it’s a necessary step in accepting who he truly is. Things take an even more devastating turn when Matt comes out to his parents. His mother reacts with shock but tries to be supportive, while his father outright rejects him, telling Matt to leave and never return. Heartbroken, Matt spirals into a deep depression, turning to drugs to numb the pain. His struggle culminates in a suicide attempt, but thanks to Jake’s intervention, Matt is hospitalized and begins his journey of recovery. Upon being released, Matt leans on Jake and his friends, who become his chosen family, offering him the love and support he craves but never received from his father. Over time, Matt learns that family isn’t always about blood—it’s about the people who love you unconditionally. Jake, along with a close circle of friends, provides Matt with the strength he needs to rebuild his life. As Matt recovers, he grows into a more self-assured and confident person. He reconnects with his mother, though his relationship with his father remains strained. With Jake’s unwavering support, Matt finishes college, and the two decide to move in together. Eventually, Jake proposes, and they plan a small, intimate wedding surrounded by their friends—their chosen family. The novel concludes with Matt finally coming to terms with his past and accepting that, despite his father’s rejection, he is worthy of love. With his husband Jake and a supportive community by his side, Matt finds peace in the life he’s built. He understands that love, in all its forms, is what defines family, and that the relationships he has formed are more than enough to fill his heart. Finding My Way is a heartfelt exploration of identity, love, and resilience. It dives deep into the challenges of coming out, the pain of rejection, and the healing power of chosen family. At its core, the novel tells a story of growth, self-acceptance, and the realization that true family is defined not by blood, but by unconditional love.

This book is my testimony; it was written to honor all the people who had helped me through all my life struggles. I have been blessed beyond measure. I didn't realize how far I had come in life until I started writing and documenting things that were of the most importance to me. My story is not really a typical story; however, I do strongly believe that a lot of people can relate to it. Most people can probably say that they have that first love that broke their heart in pieces, that true best friend who's going to rock with on every level. Everyone has made mistakes and has made bad decisions and has been in situations that have caused them to do things that they are not particularly proud of. Life doesn't come with a list of instructions or a guide to help you along the way. You just have to roll with the punches, dust yourself off, and keep trying until you get it right. I have had so many people come and go in my life, and I can honestly say that I have learned so many lessons on the way through all that laughter and tears from that heartache and pain. So now I can truly say that I am proud to celebrate the good and the bad. My mom and brother have been my constant support through it all. I have used this book as a therapeutic measure to help me cope and let go of a lot of my anger and frustration because I have come to an understanding that those grudges have been stopping my blessings. I have learned to work through my issues and move on. It wasn't easy, but through my faith in God, I was able to find my peace.
