There aren't many Americans who didn't feel a lump in their throat watching Cal Ripken, Jr. take a historic jog around the bases on the evening of September 6, 1995—the night he smashed Lou Gehrig's record number of 2,130 consecutively played games. But, as "the hardest working man in baseball" will tell you, he was just doing his job. And now he tells you just how he does it, why he does it, and how it makes him feel. With the candor and grace that have endeared him to fans everywhere, Cal Ripken, Jr. tells the story of his journey to the major leagues: of his early childhood and life with a baseball manager for a father; his stint in the minors, working his way up from the Rookie Leagues to Triple-A; and finally to the permanent call from Baltimore where he began the drive to an All-Star career. Cal talks with warmth of his mentors and teammates, and with honesty of the Orioles' roller-coaster ride from the pennant to a lamentable 0-21 start in the eighties. He reveals his innermost thoughts on the game, and leads us through his strategies at the plate and on the field. Best of all, Cal reveals what makes him tick: his commitment to the game, to his family, to his career, and to the team. In this rich and rewarding memoir, we find out why he's credited with putting the "great" back into America's greatest game: it's the only way he knows.

Just before Buddha died somebody asked him: When a buddha dies where does he go? Does he survive or simply disappear into nothingness? This is not a new question, it is one of the oldest, many times repeated and asked. Buddha is reported to have said: Just like a white cloud disappearing.... This very morning there were white clouds in the sky. Now they are there no more. Where have they gone? From where do they come? How do they evolve, and how do they dissolve again? A white cloud is a mystery, the coming, the going, the very being of it. That’s the first reason why I call my way The Way of the White Clouds.

Why do I continue to do the things I don't want to do? Why do I not do the things I know I should be doing? Author Jeff Brewer knows every believer faces those questions. "The Only Way To Live" exposes the flawed way most Christians try to live their lives and reveals the way to the fullness of the life lived by Jesus. The purpose is not to teach believers anything, but to train disciples to live the life Jesus clearly taught us to live. This is not a philosophical book. The practical steps you need to take to become a full-time disciple of Jesus are clearly outlined. When you finish reading this book you will know what Jesus meant in John 15 when He commanded us to 'abide in the vine.' You will know what Paul meant in Romans 8 when he exhorted us to 'walk in the Spirit.' "The Only Way To Live" will challenge you to change the way you live your Christian life.

Never imagined this is how God was going to capture my heart but he did and so the journey begun. This provided insight on how God healed my broken heart as he mended and repaired my being. At first it felt like I went in for an open heart surgery and I was not on any medication so every single thing that was touched on I really felt it. As painful as some of the things done to me in the past felt, I came to understand that was the reason why my Lord was there so I chose to allow Him into my life for healing to begin. It was in Him to give and so a new heart was provided for me to be able to live pain free. As I accepted the gift I was given I felt the heart beat like never before. A tear drop rolled down my cheek and I knew I was transformed. I came to find out it was new life in me. I was coming out a new person, a new being who was no longer conformed to the world but renewed, enlightened & enriched. I woke up and realized I was no longer sleeping beauty as I got the awakening. To me that was healing from the house of heaven. I was now free from heartache, no longer day dreaming but living the dream. The documentary touches on life experiences and showcases a woman's journey as she worked to free herself from oppression rebuilding her life to make it out of the wilderness alive. This book is unique in its global approach to applying the Guidelines for Culturally Competent Nursing Practice that were recently endorsed by the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and distributed to all of its 130 national nursing associations. The purpose of this book is to illustrate how these guidelines can be put into clinical practice and to show how practitioners from different countries with diverse populations can implement them. The first chapter provides the conceptual basis for Culturally Competent Health Care and describes how the guidelines were developed. Each of the next 10 sections presents a chapter describing a specific guideline followed by three or four chapters with detailed case studies to illustrate how the guideline was implemented in a particular cultural setting. All case studies follow a similar format and are written by international authors with clinical expertise and work experience in the culture being presented.
