This study shows that women involved in National Socialism in the years 1924 - 1934 developed and shaped a recognizable discourse which communicated and reflected their position and status within the NS movement. The analysis is based on a variety of text-types produced by members of NS women's organisations, and includes official correspondence, circulars, reports, pamphlets, monographs and articles from NS women's journals. It draws upon several areas of linguistic theory, including feminist linguistics, semantics, pragmatics and discourse analysis, and the salient features identified in the female discourse are placed within a sociolinguistic framework. While previous research into the language of the NS-system has largely ignored the possibility of a cohesive female discourse, the study supports the idea that this discourse was dynamic, and at times heterogeneous, whilst also displaying many self-defining and self-referential features. It is characterised by its ambiguities and apparent contradictions, which expresses separateness and difference, yet also solidarity with the NSDAP.

This important book brings together, for the first time, an in-depth examination of the major scientific and social aspects of women and cancer--the second leading cause of death among American women. Prominent cancer specialists present the most recent facts about the causes, treatment, and coping strategies of women affected by this dreaded disease--either as its victims or as caretakers for those with cancer. The major topics include basis statistics, screening and early detection, implications of treatment and its aftermath, risk and benefits, and tobacco. Many of the book's contributions have been supported by the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society.

The followers of ‘Ramanuj Sampradaya’ in Mulher province, worship Lord Shri Krishna. It has its historic importance. The followers of this sect traditionally celebrate ‘Raas-Leela’ of lord Shri Krishna at every ‘Sharad Poonam’. This tradition is 350 years old. The ‘Raas-Leela’ of Mulher is equally important as the ‘Raas-Leela’ of Brindavan. Lots of followers from the interior parts of Gujarat, Karnataka and Maharashtra participate in the yearly ‘Raas-Leela’ celebration. They come to worship Lord Shri Krishna, among them some thank the Lord for their fulfilled wishes, and others pray to God to fulfill their wishes. They have a feeling of love, affection and equality about all the religions in their hearts. They all are lost in themselves; their souls are connected to the Lord. They are so engrossed in singing ‘Bhajans’ that they forget hunger, thirst, etc. In this ‘Raas-Leela’ one local child enacts Shri Krishna and others enact as his ‘Gopis’. All night the followers sing ‘Bhajans’ under the ‘Chakra’. The ‘Padas’ of ‘Raas-Leela’ are sung by them. A total of 105 ‘Padaas’ are sung. They are composed in various ‘Raagas’- Traditional as well as the ‘Raagas’ which are scarcely known. We can easily make out that those ‘Raagas’ are different from the present ones. In this book, there is an humble effort to give the detailed information about the history of raas leela , the present situation of Raas-leela: a live description , Raas padaas with notation ( pt. Bhatkhande notation system ), actual meaning of each pada, a study of the raagas in which the padas are composed, and an effort to know the actual face or structure of the raagas in medieval period and in modern period.

The inequalities that structure relationships in Delhi’s urban slums have left the health of women living there chronically vulnerable. Yet for women living in slums, there is no other option than to depend on someone. Based on fourteen months of intensive fieldwork with ten families in a Delhi slum, No One Will Let Her Live argues that women rely on moral strategies to confront the poverty and unstable relationships that threaten their well-being. Claire Snell-Rood breaks new ground by delineating the complex ways in which women set boundaries, maintain their independence, and develop a nuanced sense of selfhood that draws on endurance, asceticism, mobility, and citizenship.
