Analyzes the various stages by which the fascist regime passed from anti-racialism to racial antisemitism on the German model, by focusing on the impact of German-Italian relations on the evolution of the racial question in Italy. Shows how fascist antisemitic policy was shaped by the necessities of the Axis agreement from the beginning, despite the fundamental conflicts of interest and the different positions toward racism. Examines direct and indirect German interference in Italian policy, as well as the reaction of Italian Jews to fascism. Based on unpublished records.

Hitler Bene Tito written by Arnold Suppan and has been published by Austrian Academy of Sciences Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with Balkan Peninsula categories.

In the spring of 1945, Fuhrer and Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler, President Edvard Benes, and Marshal Josip Broz Tito stood as examples of the complete rupture between the Germans and Austrians on the one hand, and the Czechs, Slovaks, Slovenes, Croats, Serbs, and Bosniaks on the other. The total break that occurred in World War II with war crimes, crimes against humanity, and even genocides (particularly against the Jews and "Gypsies") had a long pre-history, beginning with violent nationalist clashes in the Habsburg Monarchy during the revolutions of 1848/49. Therefore, this monograph - based on a broad range of international primary and secondary sources - explores the development of the political, legal, economic, social, and cultural "communities of conflict" within Austria-Hungary, especially in the Bohemian and South Slavic countries, the making of the Paris Peace Treaties in 1919/20 by violating President Wilson's principle of self-determination, particularly in drawing new borders and creating new economic units, and the perpetuated ethnic-national conflicts between Czechs and Germans, Slovaks and Magyars, Slovenes and Germans, Croats and Serbs as well as Serbs and Germans in the successor states, deepening the differences between the nations of East-Central Europe. Although many kings, presidents, chancellors, ministers, governors, diplomats, business tycoons, generals, Nazi-Gauleiter, higher SS and police leaders, and Communist functionaries have appeared as historical actors in the 170 years of East-Central and Southeastern European history, Hitler, Benes, and Tito remain especially present in historical memory at the beginning of the twenty-first century.

Since unification, the Federal Republic of Germany has made vaunted efforts to make amends for the crimes of the Third Reich. Yet it remains the case that the demands for restitution by many countries that were occupied during the Second World War are unresolved, and recent demands from Greece and Poland have only reignited old debates. This book reconstructs the German occupation of Poland and Greece and gives a thorough accounting of these debates. Working from the perspective of international law, it deepens the scholarly discourse around the issue, clarifying the ‘never-ending story’ of German reparations policy and making a principled call for further action. A compilation of primary sources comprising 125 annotated key texts (512 pages) on the complexity of reparations discussions covering the period between 1941 and the end of 2017 is available for free on the Berghahn Books website, doi: 10.3167/9781800732575.dd.

Victims And Survivors written by Bob Moore and has been published by Hodder Education this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997 with History categories.

'The Diary of Anne Frank' remains an icon of Holocaust literature, yet comparatively little is known about the wider circumstances in which the individual tragedy of the Frank family was played out. The debate that has retained the greatest popular and scholarly significance addresses aparadox evident when comparison is made between Jewish mortality in the Netherlands and that in neighbouring European states. How was it possible, in a country proud of its traditions of liberalism and tolerance, that such a large proportion of its Jewish citizens could fall victim to Nazigenocide, when those in France and Belgium fared markedly better? Bob Moore's comprehensive study, the first in English in nearly 30 years, examines all the central elements of the debate: the nature of the Nazi persecuters, their victims, and the specific circumstances of the German occupation of the Netherlands in an attempt to answer this question. Bringingtogether the work of Dutch and other scholars, the book also charts the development of Nazi policies in the Netherlands and their effects on those who perished and on the few who managed to survive.
