Control or passion, risk – or love? Romantic love is something Gabby Cooley-Burke believes in with all her heart. When her great love died, she was left with her wonderful son and memories to last her a lifetime. Despite encouragement from her girl tribe to begin dating again, she is convinced this should be enough. Ten-year-old Jeremy is hers alone to care for, but that challenge isn’t all she faces when she loses her job. Rick Chagres is protecting his son Will as well, perhaps a little too much. His fears are real and grounded in a scary past. When Jeremy and Will become partners in science class, their personalities clash and a fight ensures, bringing their parents to meet under less than ideal circumstances. Unwilling to tolerate any risks when it comes to his boy, the last thing Rick anticipates is giving Gabby his trust and earning her love. Can that love offer them protection against an uncertain future? The Flynn’s Crossing series is contemporary romance set in the northern California foothills, suspense driven by small town secrets, and complex characters in compelling stories about friendship and love. You can enjoy the books out of order without ruining their surprises!

Beyond Hatred And Religious Intolerance written by Denis O. Nwaobasi and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Political Science categories.

The fact that the vast majority of people on earth today were born after the end of the Second World War should not be used by anybody as a pretext to claim ignorance of the horrors to which the human family was subjected during that devastating war. Fortunately, technology has made it possible for those scenes of horror at the concentration camps and elsewhere to be viewed many times over. As can be observed from the films, a calculated attempt was made to exterminate Jews from the face of the earth. Moreover, in that diabolical, unprecedented, and evil grand design in the history of humanity, millions of people from the four corners of the earth perished while a lot of wealth and infrastructures were destroyed. The USA participated in that war because it thought it would be a war to end all wars. Unfortunately, that war did not end all wars. Rather, the world has continued to witness wars and increased acts of terror globally. Both the young and the old have continued to shed tears and blood as a result of barbaric acts of terrorism. No one is spared. I had not fully recovered from the shock I received on hearing that someone, somewhere in our present world, questioned the veracity of the genocide perpetrated against the Jews during World War II when the unthinkable acts of terror against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon occurred on September 11, 2001. Since those horrendous attacks happened, world leaders have persistently called for a global coalition to wage war against terrorism. It is in response to those calls for concerted action against terrorism that this book is written. Its aim is not to grieve for, defend, or condemn any country or group of countries but to expose the root-causes of global terrorism and recommend remedial action. This line of approach is in recognition of the fact that the brutal attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were not directed against the American people alone but against the entire human family as the nationalities of the victims indicate and given the havoc that terrorists have unleashed on humanity across the ages.

Despite its overwhelmingly Muslim majority, Indonesia has always been seen as exceptional for its diversity and pluralism. In recent years, however, there has been a rise in "majoritarianism", with resurgent Islamist groups pushing hard to impose conservative values on public life – in many cases with considerable success. This has sparked growing fears for the future of basic human rights, and, in particular, the rights of women and sexual and ethnic minority groups. There have, in fact, been more prosecutions of unorthodox religious groups since the fall of Soeharto in 1998 than there were under the three decades of his authoritarian rule. Some Indonesians even feel that the pluralism they thought was constitutionally guaranteed by the national ideology, the Pancasila, is now under threat. This book contains essays exploring these issues by prominent scholars, lawyers and activists from within Indonesia and beyond, offering detailed accounts of the political and legal implications of rising resurgent Islamism in Indonesia. Examining particular cases of intolerance and violence against minorities, it also provides an account of the responses offered by a weak state that now seems too often unwilling to intervene to protect vulnerable minorities against rising religious intolerance.

This collection of essays investigates signs of toleration, recognition, respect and other positive forms of interaction between and within religious groups of late antiquity. At the same time, it acknowledges that examples of tolerance are significantly fewer in ancient sources than examples of intolerance and are often limited to insiders, while outsiders often met with contempt, or even outright violence. The essays take both perspectives seriously by analysing the complexity pertaining to these encounters. Religious concerns, ethnicity, gender and other social factors central to identity formation were often intertwined and they yielded different ways of drawing the limits of tolerance and intolerance. This book enhances our understanding of the formative centuries of Jewish and Christian religious traditions. It also brings the results of historical inquiry into dialogue with present-day questions of religious tolerance.

This book aims to examine and critically analyse the role that religion has and should have in the public and legal sphere. The main purpose of the book is to explain why religion, on the whole, should not be tolerated in a tolerant-liberal democracy and to describe exactly how it should not be tolerated – mainly by addressing legal issues. The main arguments of the book are, first, that as a general rule illiberal intolerance should not be tolerated; secondly, that there are meaningful, unique links between religion and intolerance, and between holding religious beliefs and holding intolerant views (and ultimately acting upon these views); and thirdly, that the religiosity of a legal claim is normally a reason, although not necessarily a prevailing one, not to accept that claim.
