When NASA’s SLS-1 rocket lifted off from Launch Complex 39-B for the Artemis I mission in early morning hours of November 16, 2022, it culminated more than a decade of intense effort by NASA, its prime contractors and thousands of subcontracted companies across the United States and Europe. This book shares the exciting story of NASA searching for the best human spaceflight vehicle, after the Space Shuttle era, to start a new path of exploration back to the Moon and later to Mars. It covers the preliminary Ares I and Ares V designs from Project Constellation that formed the foundation for SLS. Then in separate chapters it covers the components of the SLS that include the Core Stage with RS-25 engines, the Solid Rocket Boosters, the Upper Stage, and the rocket’s payload: the Orion capsule and Service Module. The final chapter is devoted to the successful Artemis I mission. This book draws from an abundance of available NASA and contractor documents, special interviews, and illustrated photographs in both color and black and white. You will read about the detailed story of the Space Launch System's design engineering, politics, funding battles, and records regarding the manufacturing of NASA's most powerful rocket that will ultimately launch a new era in human exploration beyond Earth's orbit.

At last, here is a book peering behind the veil of Congressional politics which force NASA to do the bidding of regional interests that cripple the nation's capabilities in both exploring outer space and exploiting its enormous economic potential. Presenting the opinions of astronauts, prominent rocket scientists and space policy analysts while also revealing unpublicized studies conducted by NASA, industry and universities, The Plundering of NASA: An Expose combines into one book many of the facts the major media have either ignored or not discovered. Expert sources explain modern and economically practical solutions that can allow NASA to exceed its former Apollo glory within its current budget. In short, the book relates how honest misconceptions, greed, and an outdated faction within NASA itself cause our nation to get less for its space agency tax dollars than it could and should.

Transatlantic Space Politics written by Sheng-Chih Wang and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-05-29 with Political Science categories.
This book examines transatlantic politics through an analysis of 60 years of US-European strategic interaction in space. The significance of space politics for the study of transatlantic relations receives surprisingly little scholarly attention. As a theatre of interaction, transatlantic space politics reflects the vicissitudes of European and US power in the international system. An understanding of space politics is therefore vital in understanding the status and prospect of the transatlantic order. Using established IR theories, the author investigates transatlantic space politics and proposes a theoretical explanation, which is distinct from the conventional wisdom of the transatlantic security community. More specifically, he distinguishes between the constitutive and regulatory effects of the transatlantic security community, an approach rarely employed in other research in the field. Overall, this book suggests not only that the transatlantic institutional pillar requires repair, but also that the ideational factors need to be revitalised in order to consolidate the transatlantic alliance. This book will be of much interest to students of space power, transatlantic politics, strategic studies, foreign policy and IR/security studies in general.

Becoming Spacefarers written by James A. Vedda and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-06-21 with Science categories.
What is a spacefaring society, and how do we get there from here? In addressing these questions, this book examines how partisanship and parochialism have hindered American space dreams in recent years, and demonstrates that the lessons we should have learned from U.S. history can put us on a more productive path. Instead of being stuck in Stage One space development (space as a training ground), we can move more quickly to Stage Two (Earth-Moon space as an industrial park) and eventually to Stage Three (human activity across the solar system). The keys to achieving this are routine proximity operations throughout Earth-Moon space, sustainable space infrastructure, and a new level of collaboration between the public and private sectors not adventure trips to distant solar system destinations. In Becoming Spacefarers: Rescuing Americas Space Program, James A. Vedda, one of the most innovative space policy analysts working today, offers a no-nonsense account of the current doldrums of spacefl ight in the United States and how the nation might deal with it. He makes clear that we are in a crisis, that business as usual will not enable us to overcome it, and that it is not suffi cient to rest on past successes or to accept the present partisanship and parochialism. In addition to diagnosing the problems, Vedda also offers useful and in some cases provocative prescriptions for how Americans might untie the Gordian knot of current approaches to spacefl ight.
