Method: The Nature of Nature is the first of several volumes exposing Edgar Morin's general systems view on life and society. The present volume maintains that the organization of all life and society necessitates the simultaneous interplay of order and disorder. All systems, physical, biological, social, political and informational, incessantly reshape part and whole through feedback, thereby generating increasingly complex systems. For continued evolution, these simultaneously complementary, concurrent, and antagonistic systems require a priority of love over truth, of subject over object, of Sy-bernetics over cybernetics.

Nature Policies And Landscape Policies written by Roberto Gambino and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-27 with Science categories.

The book focuses on the relationship between nature conservation policies and landscape policies. This is a relevant subject due to the current need of reviving nature conservation policies, which are today affected by a general effectiveness deficiency. To this end, landscape policies can play a crucial role, bridging nature and culture, fostering more integrated approaches to nature conservation and stimulating the active participation of local communities. The book gathers reflections, researches and experiences developed on an international level on this subject by experts coming from different international contexts (Europe, U.S.A.), various disciplinary backgrounds (geographers, planners, biologists, historians, jurists, economists, etc.) and several institutional bodies (Universities, administrative bodies, international organizations such as IUCN, EUROPARC Federation, UNESCO, etc.). The overall reflections gathered in the book - which is divided in three main sections: regulations and institutional frameworks, policies, actions and tools - combine to suggest innovative visions about the relationships between nature policies and landscape policies.

Ecology Without Nature written by Timothy Morton and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-03-31 with Literary Criticism categories.

Morton argues that the chief stumbling block to environmental thinking is the image of nature most writers promote: they propose a new world view, but their very zeal to preserve the natural world leads them away from the “nature” they revere. To have a properly ecological view, Morton suggests, we must relinquish, once and for all, the idea of nature.

"Human Nature" is a term most frequently used and yet but little understood. The average person knows in a general way what he and others mean when this term is employed, but very few are able to give an off-hand definition of the term or to state what in their opinion constitutes the real essence of the thought expressed by the familiar phrase. We are of the opinion that the first step in the process of correct understanding of any subject is that of acquaintance with its principal terms, and, so, we shall begin our consideration of the subject of Human Nature by an examination of the term used to express the idea itself. "Human," of course, means "of or pertaining to man or mankind." Therefore, Human Nature means the nature of man or mankind. "Nature," in this usage, means: "The natural disposition of mind of any person; temper; personal character; individual constitution; the peculiar mental characteristics and attributes which serve to distinguish one person from another." Thus we see that the essence of the nature of men, or of a particular human being, is the mind, the mental qualities, characteristics, properties and attributes. Human Nature is then a phase of psychology and subject to the laws, principles and methods of study, examination and consideration of that particular branch of science.

Aesthetics And Nature written by Glenn Parsons and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-09-07 with Philosophy categories.

Aesthetics and Nature offers a clear and accessible introduction to the field of nature aesthetics. Glenn Parsons explores the current debates in the field, providing the reader with a thorough overview of the subject. The book situates nature aesthetics in relation to two principal influences: aesthetics' traditional project of understanding the value of art and current thought on the ethics of our relationship with nature. The book outlines five major approaches to understanding the aesthetic value of nature and explores the aesthetic appreciation of nature as it occurs in wilderness, in gardens, and in the context of appreciating environmental art. The book also includes a study of the idea that conserving nature's beauty provides a compelling reason to preserve wilderness. This highly topical idea has deep implications for the importance of aesthetic value in our relationship to nature, and for the fate of nature itself. Combining a clear and engaging style with a sophisticated treatment of a fascinating subject, Aesthetics and Nature is a valuable contribution to contemporary aesthetics.

Excerpt from Nature-Study: A Manual for Teachers and Students This book is designed as an aid and guide to the practical teacher, and as a text-book in methods of nature-study for normal and training schools. Part I is devoted to a discussion of underlying principles and methods. A just appreciation of the purpose of nature-study and a good technique in teaching are as essential as a knowledge of subject-matter, especially in a subject like this, which must be taught without text-books. Part II contains appropriate subject-matter of a biological nature, and practical hints and suggestions on the collection and care of material, and the presentation of lessons. I have, however, avoided working out complete lesson-plans for the teacher, believing it far better to allow her to adapt the subject-matter herself to her own conditions, and to give an opportunity for originality. Emphasis is placed on the teaching of life-histories, life-habits, functions and processes, and not on mere structure study. Of chief importance also in nature-study are the adaptations to function and environment, the interrelations of plants and animals, their economic aspects, and practical bearing on human life. Part III consists of a course of nature-study for the eight grades. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
