The 4th International Conference on Performance-based Design in Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering (PBD-IV) is held in Beijing, China. The PBD-IV Conference is organized under the auspices of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering - Technical Committee TC203 on Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering and Associated Problems (ISSMGE-TC203). The PBD-I, PBD-II, and PBD-III events in Japan (2009), Italy (2012), and Canada (2017) respectively, were highly successful events for the international earthquake geotechnical engineering community. The PBD events have been excellent companions to the International Conference on Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering (ICEGE) series that TC203 has held in Japan (1995), Portugal (1999), USA (2004), Greece (2007), Chile (2011), New Zealand (2015), and Italy (2019). The goal of PBD-IV is to provide an open forum for delegates to interact with their international colleagues and advance performance-based design research and practices for earthquake geotechnical engineering.

Rock Slope Engineering written by Duncan C. Wyllie and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-18 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Rock Slope Engineering covers the investigation, design, excavation and remediation of man-made rock cuts and natural slopes, primarily for civil engineering applications. It presents design information on structural geology, shear strength of rock and ground water, including weathered rock. Slope design methods are discussed for planar, wedge, circular and toppling failures, including seismic design and numerical analysis. Information is also provided on blasting, slope stabilization, movement monitoring and civil engineering applications. This fifth edition has been extensively up-dated, with new chapters on weathered rock, including shear strength in relation to weathering grades, and seismic design of rock slopes for pseudo-static stability and Newmark displacement. It now includes the use of remote sensing techniques such as LiDAR to monitor slope movement and collect structural geology data. The chapter on numerical analysis has been revised with emphasis on civil applications. The book is written for practitioners working in the fields of transportation, energy and industrial development, and undergraduate and graduate level courses in geological engineering.

Tunnel Design Methods written by Antonio Bobet and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-12 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Tunnel Design Methods covers analytical, numerical, and empirical methods for the design of tunnels in soil and in rock. The material is intended for design engineers looking for detailed methods, for graduate students who are interested in tunnelling, and for researchers working on various aspects of ground-support interaction under static and seismic loading. The book is divided into seven chapters, covering fundamental concepts on ground and support behavior and on ground-excavation-support interaction and provides detailed information on analytical and numerical methods used for the design of tunnels, with applications, and on the latest developments on empirical methods. The principles and formulations included are used, throughout the book, to provide insight into the response of tunnels under both simple and complex loading conditions, thus providing the reader with fundamental understanding of tunnel behavior. Both authors have experience in tunnelling and have worked extensively in practice, designing tunnels both in the United States and abroad, and in research.
