Animality In Contemporary Italian Philosophy written by Felice Cimatti and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-09-03 with Philosophy categories.

This volume provides an overview of contemporary Italian philosophy from the perspective of animality. Its rationale rests on two main premises: the great topicality of both Italian contemporary philosophy (the so-called “Italian Theory”) and of the animal question (the so-called “animal turn” in the humanities and the social sciences) in the contemporary philosophical panorama. The volume not only intersects these two axes, illuminating Italian Theory through the animal question, but also proposes an original thesis: that the animal question is a central and founding issue of contemporary Italian philosophy. It combines historical-descriptive chapters with analyses of the theme in several philosophical branches, such as biopolitics, Posthumanism, Marxism, Feminism, Antispeciesism and Theology, and with original contributions by renowned authors of contemporary Italian (animal) philosophy. The volume is both historical-descriptive and speculative and is intended for a broad academic audience, embracing both Italian studies and Animal studies at all levels.

Contributors to this volume consider the implications of 'the Age of Breath': a spiritual shift in human awareness to the needs of the other figured through breathing. Awareness of the breath allows us to attend to our bodies and the bodies of others, to animals, nature, other cultures, oppressed minorities, and the other of sexual difference. As a way to connect body and spirit, self and other, nature and culture, and East and West, breathing emerges as the significant theological and philosophical gesture of our time. Philosophy has too often cut off metaphysical thought from this living, breathing world with its animal and female bodies, just as religious traditions have repressed the breathing flesh in favour of calcified word. The re-introduction of breath into philosophy and theology draws our awareness back to the body, to respect for the other, and to nature, making awareness of the breath essential for an embodied ethics of difference in our globalized, ecological age. These themes are addressed by an international team of scholars, including Luce Irigaray.

In their witty and polemical cultural analysis, art and architecture historian Valentina Sonzogni and philosopher Leonardo Caffo explore a myriad a series of visual, ethical, and cultural issues relating to the idea of animality. In twenty-one playful but passionately argued letters to each other, Sonzogni and Caffo propose a change of attitude toward nonhuman animals among advocates, artists, and citizens, particularly in how other-than-human life is presented and re-presented in the visual tradition. Ranging widely across continental philosophy, art theory, and cultural criticism, and with nearly thirty illustrations, An Art for the Other is a fresh and compelling work of contemporary ideas from two of the freshest critical theoreticians in Europe today.

Paradise Lost is John Milton's elaboration of Genesis into an epic poem. The poem begins with Milton's invocation to a muse for help. The action switches to hell, where Satan and his followers have been banished from heaven after trying to rebel against God. Bitter, they try to make the best of things by building the palace Pandemonium, all the while plotting whether to get revenge against God by war or trickery. After much debate, they finally decide to try to sabotage the new world of earth and mortal man that God has created. Satan sets off for earth, and meets his offspring, Sin and Death, at the gate of hell. They let him pass, and he journeys onward. Meanwhile, God sees Satan approaching earth and predicts the fall of man. When no one else does, God's Son offers to sacrifice himself to save man.

2. Nuovo saggio sull’origine delle idee. 3. Logica. 4. Teosofia. 5. Antropologia. 6. Psicologia. 7. Principi della scienza morale. 8. Trattato della coscienza morale. 9. Scritti pedagogici. 10. Filosofia della politica. 11. Filosofia del diritto.
