Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich BWL - Controlling, Note: 1,7, Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Budgetierungsprozess im Unternehmen, der historisch gesehen seinen Ursprung im staatlichen Etatwesen hat, wurde bereits „in den 20er Jahren als Instrument zur Steuerung von Kosten und Finanzflüssen in großen Industrieunternehmen wie DuPont, General Motors oder Siemens entwickelt.“ Seitdem entwickelte sich die Budgetierung, die innerhalb vieler Unternehmen das alleinige Führungs- bzw. Steuerungsinstrument ausmacht und den Unternehmen zusätzlich als zentrales Instrument der Prognose und Motivation dient, zu einem komplexen und umfangreichen Instrument. Trotz ihres weit verbreiteten Einsatzes ist die herkömmliche Planung und Budgetierung jedoch gerade aus dem Lager von Führungskräften und Controllern sowie Finanzfachleuten zunehmender Kritik ausgesetzt. Die steigende Unzufriedenheit und zunehmende Kritik an der klassischen Budgetierung führten sowohl in der Theorie als auch in der Praxis zu verschiedenen Ansätzen. Dabei stehen sich zwei verschiedene Ansätze, der Ansatz des Better Budgeting, welcher einer Reform der klassischen Budgetierung entspricht und der Ansatz des Beyond Budgeting, der auf eine radikale Abschaffung der Budgetierung im Unternehmen abzielt, gegenüber. Ziel und Zweck der beiden Ansätze ist es, der Unternehmensführung ein praktikableres und zuverlässigeres Steuerungskonzept zur Verfügung zu stellen, als es die klassische Budgetierung bereithält. Im Rahmen dieser Hausarbeit sollen, ausgehend von der Einführung in die klassische Budgetierung und ihrer Problemfelder, die Budgetierungsansätze Beyond Budgeting und Better Budgeting dargestellt werden.
