The papers in this two-volume work provide an overview of approaches to neurobiology, sychronization & chaos emphasizing coherent behavior in networks of dynamical systems. These fully indexed proceedings contain invited lectures & some selected papers. The papers in Volume I consider modeling psychophysiological processes by neural networks; synchronization; metastability & phase transition in neural networks; & the role of chaotic neural dynamic behavior of the component model neurones. Volume II contains papers that deal with the behavior of more abstract model neurones & aspects of the design of neurocomputer architectures.

This monograph examines in detail models of neural systems described by delay-differential equations. Each element of the medium (neuron) is an oscillator that generates, in standalone mode, short impulses also known as spikes. The book discusses models of synaptic interaction between neurons, which lead to complex oscillatory modes in the system. In addition, it presents a solution to the problem of choosing the parameters of interaction in order to obtain attractors with predetermined structure. These attractors are represented as images encoded in the form of autowaves (wave memory). The target audience primarily comprises researchers and experts in the field, but it will also be beneficial for graduate students.

Applications of Fractals and Chaos presents new developments in this rapidlydeveloping subject area. The presentation is more than merely theoretical, it specifically presents particular applications in a wide range of applications areas. Under the oceans, we consider the ways in which sponges and corals grow; we look, too, at the stability of ships on their surfaces. Land itself is modelled and applications to art, medicineand camouflage are presented. Readers should find general interest in the range of areas considered and should also be able to discover methods of value for their own specific areas of interest from studying the structure of related activities.

Coupled Oscillating Neurons written by J.G. Taylor and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.

This volume consists of proceedings of the one-day conference on "Coupled Oscillating Neurons" held at King's College, London on December 13th, 1990. The subject is currently of increasing interest to neurophysiologists, neural network researchers, applied mathematicians and physicists. The papers attempt to cover the major areas of the subject, as the titles indicate. It is hoped that the appearance of the papers (some of which have been updated since their original presentation) indicates why the subject is becoming of great excitement. A better understanding of coupled oscillating neurons may well hold the key to a clearer appreciation of the manner in which neural networks composed of such elements can control complex behaviour from the heart to consciousness. Logic And Algebra Of Specification written by Friedrich L. Bauer and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.

For some years, specification of software and hardware systems has been influenced not only by algebraic methods but also by new developments in logic. These new developments in logic are partly based on the use of algorithmic techniques in deduction and proving methods, but are alsodue to new theoretical advances, to a great extent stimulated by computer science, which have led to new types of logic and new logical calculi. The new techniques, methods and tools from logic, combined with algebra-based ones, offer very powerful and useful tools for the computer scientist, which may soon become practical for commercial use, where, in particular, more powerful specification tools are needed for concurrent and distributed systems. This volume contains papers based on lectures by leading researchers which were originally given at an international summer school held in Marktoberdorf in 1991. The papers aim to give a foundation for combining logic and algebra for the purposes of specification under the aspects of automated deduction, proving techniques, concurrency and logic, abstract data types and operational semantics, and constructive methods.
