El envejecimiento poblacional es una realidad global, y Colombia no es ajena a dicho proceso; este cambio demográfico trae consigo la necesidad de diagnosticar e intervenir las enfermedades neurodegenerativas que afectan a dicha población; la evaluación neuropsicológica es un proceso fundamental para responder a esta necesidad. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is an age-related neurological disease that affects tens of millions of people, in addition to their carers. Hallmark features of AD include plaques composed of amyloid beta, as well as neurofibrillary tangles of tau protein. However, despite more than a century of study, the cause of Alzheimer’s disease remains unresolved. Neuropsicología en Colombia. Datos normativos, estado actual y retos a futuro es fruto del esfuerzo de un grupo de profesionales que, a lo largo de su formación académica y del ejercicio de su profesión, han sido conscientes del trabajo que es necesario realizar para avanzar en el desarrollo de la neuropsicología en los países latinoamericanos y, en concreto, en Colombia. Nace de un ejercicio de reflexión y crítica constructiva de las carencias y necesidades que aún tiene nuestra profesión y que, en cierta medida, limitan el servicio que deseamos ofrecer a las personas con las que trabajamos. La segunda edición incluye datos normativos generados a partir de modelos de regresiones múltiples y de un conjunto de métodos modernos que permite mayor precisión de la estimación percentil en la puntuación de una prueba neuropsicológica. Abarca tres grandes aspectos: 1) la situación actual de la neuropsicología en Colombia; 2) datos normativos de pruebas neuropsicológicas para la población adulta colombiana; y 3) las prácticas éticas en el ejercicio de la neuropsicología en Colombia. Bienvenida esta obra que señala perspectivas claras sobre el rumbo del quehacer en neuropsicología en nuestro país y consolida necesidades relacionadas con aclarar, unificar, formalizar y normativizar aspectos relacionados con la formación, el entrenamiento y el ejercicio profesional del neuropsicólogo.
